Background / History

Ares is the son of Junichiro, a former daimyo of Wano's Hakumai region and a master blacksmith who dedicated his life to forging a Supreme Grade Sword. The Ares Family suffered severe losses during the conflict that destroyed the Kurozumi Family's earlier uprising; Junichiro eventually left Wano and later died. Ares inherited his father's fixation on surpassing a Supreme Grade Sword, but chose to forge his own body rather than a weapon. His father named him after a god of war, hoping he would protect Wano. 220 221 272

At roughly fourteen or fifteen, Ares returned from a hunt dragging a massive tiger and encountered the Rocks Pirates. His intimidating presence drew the attention of Rocks, Whitebeard, Shiki, and Linlin; Rocks soon accepted him as a formal crew member. Ares immediately challenged Rocks, believing that relentless battle was the only way to temper himself into an invincible blade. 2 3 8 11
