Background / History

Newgate grew up in a village too poor to pay the Heavenly Gold. Without World Government protection, the village was ravaged by pirates, criminals, and human traffickers; he was left an orphan and became a pirate himself. 276

He later joined Rocks D. Xebec's crew during its formative years, alongside other powerful pirates such as Shiki and Captain John. Rocks defeated the competing pirates and became the crew's undisputed captain, while Newgate eventually rose to command the Second Division. 22 243
