[Non-Traditional Great Desolation]

[Protagonist is Heavenly Dao and Hongjun, mostly behind-the-scenes]

[This book doesn't have much deep, angsty conspiracy theory; it's mainly about abstract Great Desolation]

[If you encounter any glaring logical flaws, just blame the protagonist and the Systems]

[Brain Deposit Area]

[Setting at the end of this chapter]

Great Desolation, Heavenly Dao Void.

Zhang Hao opened his eyes, a mixture of clarity and foolishness in his gaze.

Who am I, where am I?

Before he could even process, past memories flooded his mind like a tide.

How did I become the Heavenly Dao of the Great Desolation!

Didn't I get chopped in half by that lazy Pangu?

His name was Zhang Hao. He was originally a nobody, a loser, who, after a stroke of incredible luck, found his consciousness transported to this chaotic world.

Then, the Great Dao of this world directly stripped him of all his memories.

At that time, Zhang Hao was obsessed with Great Desolation novels, so there was no surprise that most of the information the Great Dao of this world gleaned was related to the Great Desolation.

And so...

The Great Dao began to construct this world according to the Great Desolation settings in Zhang Hao's mind.

The Three Thousand Demon Gods were gestated.

Pangu also felt the mission to open the heavens.

Finally, Pangu slew the Three Thousand Demon Gods and successfully opened up the Great Desolation.

However, the Heavenly Dao of the Great Desolation was incomplete. Even though Pangu had foreseen this situation, he had no solution for the time being.

Then...

Great Dao: I have a plan!

Zhang Hao: ?

With a snap.

Zhang Hao was split in two by Pangu's axe, half of his True Spirit merging with the Great Desolation and successfully completing the Heavenly Dao.

Although this method was unethical, it was indeed effective.

After all, this Great Desolation was created according to the settings in Zhang Hao's mind, making him the will of the Heavenly Dao was the best possible outcome.

After being cleaved by Pangu's axe, Zhang Hao's consciousness had been in a state of deep sleep.

Until now, his consciousness had awakened.

Although he was still a bit dazed, as the Heavenly Dao of the Great Desolation, a single sweep of his thoughts allowed him to understand the current state of the Great Desolation.

The Dragon-Phoenix Tribulation was nearing its end.

From what he understood, the Heavenly Dao of the Great Desolation in many novels awakened around this time, which was quite fitting for him.

After the Fierce Beasts Tribulation, the Dragon, Phoenix, and Qilin clans, in their struggle for the Great Desolation's fortune and the Heavenly Dao's authority, saw their conflicts deepen.

Coupled with the Demon Ancestor Luohu's desire to refine the Immortal-Slaying Sword Formation with the energy of slaughter, under his secret machinations, the war between the three clans erupted completely.

After the Dragon, Phoenix, and Qilin clans suffered heavy losses, the Innate great powers in the Great Desolation finally discovered Luohu's scheme.

Then Hongjun, along with Yin Yang, Five Elements, and Ancestor Yang Mei, went to Mount Sumeru in the West to stop Luohu.

Finally, Yin Yang and Five Elements self-destructed, heavily wounding Luohu, and Ancestor Yang Mei left the Great Desolation.

After Hongjun suppressed Luohu with the Myriad Heavens Auspicious Cloud, he became the final victor.

Ugh...

If only things had gone like that!

The West, Mount Sumeru.

The battlefield of the Dao-Demon Conflict.

Hongjun, with the Jade Disc of Creation above his head, confronted Luohu, who was seated on the Twelve-Grade World-Destroying Black Lotus.

"Hongjun, we are both reincarnations of Chaos Demon Gods. Instead of fighting to the death, why not join forces to refine the Great Desolation world and create a new one!"

Luohu stared at Hongjun, demonic qi swirling around him like a vast ocean.

Hongjun's expression stiffened upon hearing this, and a look of confusion appeared on his face.

"What Chaos Demon Gods?"

"I am formed from the first wisp of Immortal Qi in the Great Desolation. Luohu, you intend to subvert the Great Desolation created by the Great God Pangu. I, Hongjun, will never allow it!"

Luohu raised an eyebrow. How is this different from what I remember?

That's right, Luohu was a Transmigrator!

In the Great Desolation novels he had read, Hongjun's birth was mostly set as a reincarnation of an Immortal Path demon god.

Upon entering the Great Desolation, his goal was to devour the Great Desolation's Heavenly Dao, intending to use the Great Desolation's massive primordial energy to prove himself a Great Dao Sage.

"Ahem, Host, there's no need to worry. There are many Great Desolation worlds, and it's normal for the settings to differ."

Luohu's System reminded him.

"That's true. As long as I defeat Hongjun, I can prove myself a Hun Yuan, right?" Luohu asked.

"That's correct. As long as the Host defeats Hongjun and refines the Great Desolation, you can prove yourself a Hun Yuan," the System replied.

Luohu nodded in satisfaction.

What Dao Ancestor? What Great Desolation Heavenly Dao? They were nothing before him, a Transmigrator!

Once he proved himself a Hun Yuan, the entire Great Desolation would be under his command.

Innate Supreme Treasures, Ten Great Spiritual Roots, and even Houtu, Nuwa... Heh heh heh heh!

Luohu fantasized about his future life, a blissful smile unconsciously spreading across his face.

With a casual wave of his hand, a terrifying sword formation filled with demonic energy appeared between him and Hongjun.

The Immortal-Slaying Sword Formation!

The Four Swords of Zhu Xian were Chaos Spiritual Treasures bestowed by the Great Dao during the Heavenly Origin Tribulation to aid Pangu in suppressing the Three Thousand Demon Gods.

After entering the Great Desolation, they were suppressed into Top-grade Innate Spiritual Treasures, but when combined with the Immortal-Slaying Formation Diagram, they could still unleash the power of an Innate Supreme Treasure.

It was only after Luohu unearthed the Immortal-Slaying Sword Formation in Mount Sumeru that he conceived the idea of sacrificing the essence blood of the Three Clans to empower the swords.

His ability to roam freely throughout the Great Desolation owed a great deal to the Four Swords of Zhu Xian.

Hongjun's expression grew serious, and he immediately shouted into the void.

"I request the three fellow Daoists to join me in breaking this formation!"

Mysterious ripples spread through the void.

Following that, three powerful beings, whose auras were no weaker than Hongjun's, appeared.

Ancestor Yang Mei!

Ancestor Yin Yang!

Ancestor Five Elements!

Luohu saw who had arrived and wasn't surprised.

These were all within his expectations.

What could these mere four Great Desolation natives do, even if they knew his scheme?

In his System space, he still had a Primordial Golden Immortal Experience Card!

In the Dao-Demon Conflict, the ultimate victor would only be him!

Zhang Hao watched the events unfolding in the Western world, his mouth twitching.

Luohu is actually a Transmigrator!

It's fine. I can handle one Transmigrator easily. The System behind Luohu is no match for me.

As the Great Desolation's Heavenly Dao, Zhang Hao could mobilize the power of the entire Great Desolation. Unless the Great Dao itself intervened, no one could defeat him.

Besides.

If the System were stronger than him, wouldn't it just seize his primordial energy? Why would it bring a Transmigrator?

Wait...

What if there's more than one Transmigrator?

Zhang Hao mobilized the power of the entire Great Desolation, meticulously and carefully scanning every living being, not even sparing the Great Desolation's microorganisms.

Who knew if there was a heaven-defying System that had transmigrated with its Host into a paramecium...

After a while.

Zhang Hao was drenched in sweat.

Damn it!

I've turned the Great Desolation into a sieve!

No wonder the Great Desolation's end was destruction. It seems these Transmigrators are to blame...

Without a second word, Zhang Hao directly used the Great Desolation's power to purge some of the weaker Transmigrators from the Great Desolation.

As for their Systems, they were refined into the Great Desolation's primordial energy.

However, Zhang Hao did not immediately act against the stronger Systems.

Not to mention that those Systems themselves were not weak.

If I were to directly attack them, and these Systems self-destructed in a desperate struggle, the entire Great Desolation would be damaged.

Forget it, I'll let these Systems run wild for a while.

Zhang Hao sealed the Great Desolation's world barrier with a flip of his hand, allowing Systems to enter but not leave.

What the Great Desolation earns, the Great Desolation will spend. Not a single bit can be taken out.

Although these Systems are annoying, the origin energy they bring is extremely vast.

If I can refine all these Systems, the entire Great Desolation will experience a qualitative improvement, and Zhang Hao's strength will naturally soar.

Because every book in the Great Desolation genre has different settings, it's inevitable to project settings from other books when reading Great Desolation novels.

Originally, I wanted to build the worldview step by step, but writing it out felt a bit like a mechanical god-intervention.

So, I've placed the framework of this book at the end.

Here are the settings for this book:

1. Cultivation Realms in this book: True Immortal, Mysterious Immortal, Golden Immortal, Taiyi, Grand Unity, Quasi-Saint (Hun Yuan Golden Immortal), Saint (Hun Yuan Grand Unity), Great Dao Sage (Primordial Limitless), Great Dao

2. Heaven, Earth, Human, Ghost, God

These are classifications of Immortals in this book's setting, not realms. They will likely only appear during the Journey to the West Great Tribulation.

3. The Great Dao is similar to a piece of code; it does not possess consciousness. The protagonist has consciousness simply because his True Spirit merged with the Great Desolation's Heavenly Dao.

After merging with the Heavenly Dao, the protagonist's strength is at the level of a Primordial Limitless Grand Unity Golden Immortal, on par with the Chaos Demon Gods.

The Great Dao mentioned in the cultivation realms refers solely to the Great Dao of Chaos, which is unique.

I won't be writing about transcending or a Great Dao realm later on; I find that sort of thing uninteresting.

This novel can be read as an invincible-style story or a light novel.

4. All Chaos Demon Gods are Primordial Limitless Grand Unity Golden Immortals, in a class of their own.

Those who achieve Primordial Limitless Grand Unity Golden Immortal later are merely their projections or dependents, or perhaps they themselves are Chaos Demon Gods.

5. My setting for the Chaos Demon Gods is that they were born from the Great Desolation. However, after achieving Primordial Limitless, they tidied up the timeline and erased any trace of themselves within the Great Desolation.

They then directly arrived at the beginning of Chaos and participated in the Great Tribulation of the Three Thousand Demon Gods.

Therefore, in the timeline after the creation of the world, there are no Primordial Limitless Grand Unity Golden Immortals at the level of Chaos Demon Gods.

The Great Desolation cannot produce Primordial Limitless Grand Unity Golden Immortals.

This is because after being born in the Great Desolation, the Chaos Demon Gods went to the beginning of Chaos, taking a large amount of origin energy with them.

Pangu's creation of the world led to the birth of the Chaos Demon Gods; they are cause and effect for each other.

6. The first world nurtured by the Great Dao in this world is the chaotic Great Desolation where the protagonist is located.

During the period of nurturing Pangu, the Great Dao also nurtured the myriad worlds. Therefore, Chaos is not limited to the Great Desolation, and I might write about the myriad worlds later.

Approximate timeline:

Nurturing Pangu (simultaneously nurturing the myriad worlds) → Great Desolation (Chaos Demon Gods emerge, timeline tidied up) → ...

7. Chaos Supreme Treasures will not appear in the early stages.

In this book's setting, Spiritual Treasures possess uniqueness, while those created by Systems are imitations.

It's like comparing a nuclear bomb from the Great Desolation genre to a low-grade Spiritual Treasure from a mythological Great Desolation; there's no comparison.

8. I believe the Great Desolation should focus on cultivation, so what I write later might be a bit verbose.

If it's just constant killing, then one truly deserves to fall into a tribulation of slaughter...

The eight points above are from my diary entry on January 6, 2026. I may add to them later.

9. Many readers have discussed Chang Xi, wondering why her System implanted a man's memories.

This is because my impression is that women generally don't read Great Desolation novels... My sister only likes to read palace intrigue and domestic dramas.

I've read a few female-oriented Great Desolation novels, but they ultimately lack the grim atmosphere, nor do they have the same level of aggression as male-oriented Great Desolation novels.

Moreover, this book is a behind-the-scenes story; you can just read it from a third-person perspective.

10. A reader asked: Why are the Primordial Limitless beings in the current timeline weaker than the Chaos Demon Gods in this book's setting?

Firstly, at the beginning of Chaos, only Pangu and the protagonist achieved Primordial Limitless.

In the first timeline, those Chaos Demon Gods achieved Primordial Limitless in the Great Desolation, but they tidied up that timeline and went to the beginning of Chaos.

After Pangu slew the Demon Gods and created the Great Desolation, the current timeline came into being.

Those who achieve Primordial Limitless in later generations are all walking the Primordial Limitless Great Dao of the Chaos Demon Gods, hence they are weaker than the Chaos Demon Gods.

These two points are from my diary entry on January 9, 2026.

Finally, I want to say that everyone has their own Great Desolation in their hearts. Consider reading this book for entertainment.
