Background / History

Tang Ya was the Sect Master of the declining Tang Sect. By her generation, the sect’s inherited Blue Silver Emperor bloodline had weakened until it was nearly indistinguishable from ordinary Blue Silver Grass, while its remaining Mysterious Heaven Skill and hidden weapons had fallen behind the era 30.

She first encounters Zi Yao while traveling with Beibei and meeting Huo Yuhao outside the Star Dou Great Forest. Impressed by Zi Yao, she attempts to recruit him into both the Tang Sect and Shrek Academy, but he refuses 24.

After the Iron Blood Sect destroys the Tang Sect and kills her family and fellow sect members, Tang Ya pursues revenge in Heaven Dou City. Her grief and hatred mutate her Blue Silver Grass into its dark form and awaken its Devouring Attribute, driving her to drain the life force of Iron Blood Sect Soul Masters 138 139.

Zi Yao intervenes in her confrontation with Tie Li, exposes the City Defense Army officer involved in the Tang Sect’s destruction, and enables Tang Ya to complete her revenge. Although she initially resolves to abandon cultivation and live as an ordinary merchant rather than risk harming others, Zi Yao later reveals that Tang San withheld parts of the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record from the Tang Sect; this further breaks her faith in the sect’s founder 140 141.

Zi Yao provides Tang Ya with a Two Hundred Thousand Year Blue Silver Emperor Soul Bone and shares part of his Blue Silver Emperor bloodline through a grafting ritual. The enhancement raises her cultivation to level 50, strengthens her Martial Soul, and makes her more devoted to the Holy Cult. Zi Yao then assigns her to infiltrate Shrek Academy 146.

Tang Ya is a youthful, beautiful woman with a gentle appearance. Her appearance changes notably after returning to Shrek, where she wears a blue-and-white academy uniform and keeps her black hair in a tall ponytail tied with a pink bow 151.

Tang Ya is fiercely loyal to the Tang Sect and deeply affected by its destruction. Her desire to avenge her family and sect drives her into becoming an Evil Soul Master, while the hatred within her increasingly threatens her control over her own Martial Soul 138 139.

Despite this darkness, she is capable of gratitude, self-restraint, and concern for others. After avenging the Tang Sect, she recognizes the danger she poses and considers giving up cultivation rather than risk killing innocents 140. Later, she shows confidence in her renewed strength and continues fighting to protect civilians during the attack on Shrek City 151 230.
