Background

Zi Yao was born as the son of Tang San and the Life Goddess, carrying the mutually opposing Origins of Life and Destruction. Fearing that his Destructive Life power could endanger the God Realm, the God of Destruction and Life Goddess sent him to Douluo Continent as an infant. 2

In the Extreme North, the Snow Empress and Ice Empress found and raised him. The God of Destruction promised to help each empress bypass a Heavenly Tribulation if they obeyed and cared for Zi Yao, binding his upbringing to their survival. 3

At age six, Zi Yao’s martial soul awakening nearly killed him. His Life and Destruction Origins clashed violently, injured the Snow Empress when she intervened, and prevented his parents’ divine weapons—the Ancient Life Tree and Scepter of Destruction—from properly forming as martial souls. He used a Tai Chi visualization to temporarily separate the Origins into his hands. 4

He later used the Blue Silver Emperor’s sacrifice to stabilize the conflict temporarily and establish the Blue Silver Emperor as his public martial soul. His true Life and Destruction martial souls were not fully awakened until he integrated their Origins into his body through insights gained from the Body Sect’s techniques. 7 125
