Background / History
Gui Xi Sect is established by players using Jintian's sect-founding route. Despite investing in facilities such as the Monster Locking Tower and Dao Seeking Ladder, it goes months without recruiting a native disciple. This prevents it from completing its first main quest and progressing toward the Level 3 requirement for the Demon Suppressing Ceremony 2.
Su Ling'er arrives under orders from Qing Xu Temple's sect master, Xuan Yuan, to investigate whether Gui Xi Sect practices evil cultivation. She becomes its first native recruit, and Lin Qingfeng guides her through its facilities 1 2 8 20. Her arrival eventually activates a preliminary advancement quest: players and native NPCs must each earn 500,000 sect contribution points, counted separately, before the formal quest can be unlocked 33.

This difference in perspective recurs throughout her visit:
- Su Ling'er interprets Qian Buyu's multiple appearances as evidence that a righteous cultivator has been made into puppets; the player-facing account identifies him as a system NPC with several roles 2 8 22.
- She regards disciples' fights, dangerous experiments, and willingness to serve as materials as signs of coercion. The accounts of individual participants also describe voluntary experimentation and player activity 4 10 13.
- She sees repetitive tasks as psychological control, though their rewards—including Blood Condensing Grass, spirit stones, and access to techniques—lead her to stay longer and gather resources before escaping 37 43 46.
Su Ling'er attempts to report her findings to Qing Xu Temple, but her communication jade slip fails to connect. When she sends Spirit Contract Insects instead, sect disciples attack them as apparent red-name monsters, unaware of their purpose 47 48 49.
