Background

When Su Ling'er arrived at Gui Xi Sect, Qian Buyu was one of the sect's pre-existing system NPCs. The sect used identical Qian Buyu models wherever an NPC was needed, including positions normally requiring separate elders or attendants. Players were accustomed to his occasional glitches, such as becoming stuck, gesturing at empty space, giving garbled rewards, or teleporting people to the initial spawn point. 2

Lin Qingfeng publicly presents Elder Qian's many simultaneous appearances as the supreme art Manifestation of Myriad Forms, claiming that even the sect master is one of Qian's manifestations. In reality, Lin privately attributes the repeated appearances to the game reusing a single NPC model. 8

Appearance

Elder Qian has a vacant, expressionless face and unfocused eyes, giving Su Ling'er the impression that he is not fully alive. 8 21

Personality

Under normal conditions, Elder Qian is impersonal, terse, and procedural. He performs registration, assigns tasks, distributes rewards, and teaches techniques without visible emotion or recognition of individual disciples. 8 34 35

His behavior can become erratic when affected by a bug. After Yan Buyu steals his socks, Elder Qian enters an indiscriminate auto-attack state, repeatedly shouting “Punish” and attacking anyone nearby. 7
