Linley and Irina investigated the Chamber of Secrets threat while Linley made protective Alchemy Glasses and Irina grew closer to magical plants. They left Hogwarts for Christmas, where Linley gave Irina a Magic Plant Bag and rare seeds after a dangerous trip to Knockturn Alley.

• Linley and Irina recognized each other as fellow travelers from another world, then discovered Mrs. Norris petrified beneath a blood-written warning and began investigating the Chamber.
• Linley taught Irina the Disillusionment Charm and Shield Charm, but their Hogsmeade outing turned dangerous when Irina fought four Dark wizards before Linley helped defeat them.
• Irina befriended a Niffler she named Little Treasure and showed an unusual affinity for magical plants, while Linley forged Alchemy Glasses to protect against the Basilisk.
• Irina gave Colin Creevey Linley's glasses, and after the Basilisk failed to kill him, Dumbledore learned of Linley's work and received five more pairs for Hogwarts staff.
• Linley and Irina recorded Lockhart removing Harry's arm bones, then caught Dobby after he admitted sending the rogue Bludger that had attacked Harry.

Linley and Irina uncovered the diary’s connection to Tom Riddle, entered the Chamber of Secrets, and defeated the Basilisk and Riddle, saving Ginny. After recovering, they exposed Lockhart and finished the school year, with Linley shielding Irina’s wand from the Ministry’s Trace.

• Irina found T. M. Riddle’s diary in Moaning Myrtle’s bathroom, and Linley identified it as Voldemort’s Horcrux before sealing it against use.
• After Ginny stole the diary, Linley and Irina prepared to enter the Chamber of Secrets, using Harry’s recorded Parseltongue to open its entrance.
• Linley and Irina fought the Basilisk and Tom Riddle in the Chamber, and Linley killed the Basilisk with Gryffindor’s sword while Irina held onto the diary.
• Linley destroyed the diary with a Basilisk fang, restoring Ginny’s life force, then carried the injured Irina out and asked Dumbledore to investigate his father’s death.
• Linley recovered from the battle, studied the Half-Blood Prince’s spells, and learned from Dumbledore that he had drawn Gryffindor’s sword because he had shown courage in protecting Irina.

Linley studied Dark Arts and time alchemy under Green and Nicholas, while Irina visited Newt Scamander and cared for a newly hatched Swooping Evil. The pair reunited, practiced Patronuses and Dark Arts, and joined the Weasleys and Harry as they prepared for the new school year.

• Linley searched Roer Castle’s Dark Arts collection, learned the Unforgivable Curses and Fiendfyre, and trained until he could shape Fiendfyre into beasts.
• Linley passed Green’s combat test, then practiced Unforgivable Curses in L'enfer Alley and relied on Green’s Clear Heart pendant to calm their effects.
• Green taught Linley the Patronus Charm and alchemy for influencing emotions, minds, and souls, while Irina visited Newt Scamander and bonded with his creatures.
• A Swooping Evil hatchling imprinted on Irina, and Newt gave her an enchanted suitcase to house it and her other creatures.

Linley and Irina defend the students from Dementors, recruit Irvin to their fight against Voldemort, and prepare for their Animagus transformations while Linley learns Goblet Immortal Fire. They capture Sirius Black and reveal that Scabbers is Peter Pettigrew, then Linley completes his transformation into a Snow Wolf King.

• Linley and Irina drove the Dementors away from the Hogwarts Express with corporeal Patronuses, and Professor Lupin recognized Linley as Hendry Rowle’s son.
• Linley and Irina explored the Restricted Section, and Linley sealed a Dark Arts book’s soul inside it before giving Irina a safe copy.
• During Hagrid’s class, Irina won Buckbeak’s trust and calmed him after he injured Malfoy.
• Linley learned that Irvin feared the Dark Mark because of memories in his father’s Pensieve, then recruited him to oppose Voldemort and sealed their alliance with an Unbreakable Vow.
• Linley gave Irvin protective alchemical equipment and began Animagus preparation with Irina by burying their potion ingredients beneath a tree under the full moon.
• Dumbledore taught Linley Goblet Immortal Fire, and Linley mastered the flame after describing eternity as giving people dreams and bringing them good things.
• Linley and Irina ambushed Sirius Black at the Shrieking Shack, subdued him, and revealed that Ron’s rat Scabbers was Peter Pettigrew.
