"Wait... what's wrong with them?"
"They were just standing there like wooden dolls, not caring about anything."
"So why are they all crying now?"
"That crying... it's downright creepy."
The whole city was filled with wailing, the cries shaking the heavens. Even Da Huang felt uncomfortable all over.
"Numbness is contagious. So is crying."
"They've been suppressing their despair for far, far too long."
"If... if no one had started, they would have kept carrying that despair and suppressing themselves."
"But once someone started, they couldn't control themselves anymore. They had to vent all that pent-up anguish."
"Anyone who hasn't been through it could never understand the despair in their hearts."
"Cry. Let it out. It won't change anything, but at least you can vent a little."
Chen Changan didn't try to stop them from crying. He simply stood to the side and waited quietly.
"Big brother, with all this commotion, could we draw the Withered Corpse Race's attention?"
"Even better if we do. I've been wondering where they are." Chen Changan sneered.
Chen Changan had never thought of himself as a good person. In fact, there were many times when he was colder than anyone else.
He wasn't someone who held life in much reverence. Perhaps that came from the fact that he couldn't die.
And yet, as a member of the Human Race, Chen Changan couldn't bear to see his own people caught in such a wretched predicament.
It was a complicated feeling: I can bully them, but no other race can!
Chen Changan harbored hatred and murderous intent toward these three races.
After a long while, the crying gradually died down, and many people returned to their former numbness.
Chen Changan didn't question the others. Instead, he looked at the only person who had spoken with them
