While Chen Changan was still thinking, he discovered that he had already left the space of the third gate.
When he appeared, he found everyone looking at him expectantly.
"Brother Chen, did you pass?" Proud Lord asked at once.
"I'm not sure."
Chen Changan had still been trying to work out what this gate was hinting at when he was sent out without warning.
So he had no idea whether he had passed.
Disappointment flashed in quite a few eyes, but it was no great matter. They could not expect every attempt to go smoothly.
"Brother Chen, can you tell us what you learned?" Proud Lord asked hopefully.
"Let's wait a moment."
"Once the others come out, I'll ask what happened to them."
"All right."
After a short wait, Chen Changan saw Mu Yunyao and the others emerge one by one.
They looked just as bewildered.
"What did you experience?" Chen Changan asked directly.
"My life. My past life. But... I don't understand what it meant."
"I was sent out before I could work out what Transcendence meant."
"What I thought at the time was... if my life and everything in it had been arranged, then what I needed to transcend was that control."
At Mu Yunyao's words, Da Huang and the others hurriedly spoke up. "Sister-in-law, I thought the same thing."
"So did we."
"Does that mean we passed?"
"Did we understand what Transcendence is?"
"But... something still feels strange."
Guan Ao and Wang Ba exchanged looks. This gate had left them completely at sea.
"You... only had one life?"
"Of course. What, could there be a second?"
"Big Brother, don't tell me you've lived more than one life?"
Chen Changan did not answer Da Huang's question, but those who knew him understood that his silence was an admission.
