Background / History

Li Chunfeng is the youngest disciple of the Imperial Observatory's current Director and serves as the Night Observation Department's Division Master on Night Gazing Peak. In his youth, the Director sent him into the jianghu, where he suppressed his generation and became a renowned martial-world legend. After returning to the Observatory, he devoted himself to observing the night sky and came to view martial glory, rulers, and worldly power as insignificant beside the universe and endless time. Despite this outlook, he still recounts his former exploits while drunk, revealing that he never entirely abandoned his past as a fighter. 1

He once stood at the peak of the True Man Realm and attempted to advance to the Heavenly Human Realm. The attempt failed and caused a severe regression in his cultivation, leaving him with unstable strength around the Grandmaster Realm for years. 5 8 His cultivation later recovered naturally: after attaining insight while observing the stars, he overcame his inner demons and genuinely entered the Heavenly Human Realm. 21

Li Chunfeng belongs to the Imperial Observatory's deduction lineage, alongside Yuan Tiangang. His master gave him the complete Great Evolution Tome, while Yuan Tiangang received only an incomplete volume; this disparity became the basis of Yuan Tiangang's long-standing covetousness of Li's inheritance. 9 12

Personality

Li Chunfeng is outwardly detached, calm, and irreverent toward authority. He dismisses powerful figures such as Ren Xuanji as mere “specks of dust” against the scale of the universe, and he refuses to yield simply because an opponent has rank or influence. 4

Beneath this philosophical detachment, he is deeply protective of the Imperial Observatory and his disciples. He worries about Ren Xiaoyao's safety, conceals Ren's strength after the death of Evil Sect, and repeatedly risks himself to protect Bai Su and Yao Luochen. 7 22 23 He is also candid about his own limits; unlike the reputation forced upon him, he openly recognizes when he lacks the strength to face stronger opponents alone. 14 23
