Background / History

Qi Chun helped the Human Race quell a demonic uprising but suffered grave injuries. The Devil Race then planted a Demon Seed in him, threatening to produce an evil soul that would replace his own. Reports of his death led people to regard his Sacred Tomb as proof that he had fallen 130 133.

At the tomb, Ye Jing encountered Qi Chun's evil thoughts and a separate, elderly wisp of his Divine Soul left to guard the Great Array. The wisp apologized for drawing Ye Jing inside and offered him Qi Chun's collected books 131 133 134. Qi Chun later revealed that he had faked his death and allowed evil thoughts to infest him as part of his escape from the Heavenly Court's control. After being rescued, he joined the resistance that became the Heaven Slaying Society 283.

Qi Chun is courteous to allies: he welcomes Ye Jing without ceremony and apologizes for putting him in danger at the tomb 134 280. His opposition to the Heavenly Court is resolute. A former teacher, he says he cannot stand what it is doing to people, even while acknowledging how badly outmatched the resistance initially is 283 284. He can also be ruthless when pursuing information, threatening captives who refuse to cooperate 297.
