Gran helped Future Gohan and Trunks defeat Cell, then returned to his timeline and warned Beerus about Zamas. As Vegeta and the Saiyans neared Earth, Gran trained Piccolo and Gohan and agreed to spare Vegeta if he begged for mercy.

• Gran trained Gohan and Trunks in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, and they emerged years older to confront Cell after he absorbed Androids 17 and 18.
• Gohan and Trunks forced Cell to expel the androids, killed Androids 17 and 18, and watched Gran erase Cell when he threatened to destroy Earth.
• Gran left Future Bulma with Gohan and Trunks, who found his gift of Senzu Beans and sought Popo's advice about growing more and locating New Planet Namek.
• Gran and Bulma met Whis and Beerus in the Future Timeline, where Gran fought Beerus and warned him that Zamas planned the Human Zero Plan with Black Goku.
• Gran returned to his timeline, where Beerus and Whis visited Earth and decided to leave Gohan there to grow under Piccolo's care.
• Gran found Piccolo and Gohan, warned them that the Saiyans were coming, and trained them for two months before Piccolo entered the Hyperbolic Time Chamber and Popo began training Gohan.
• Gran sensed that Vegeta and the others would arrive the next day, and agreed to spare Vegeta if he knelt and begged for mercy after Tights asked him to do so.

Gran confronted Frieza, then traveled to Universe 6 and accepted its Candidate God of Destruction role while continuing to develop his power. After returning toward Universe 7, he left the story as Goku, Vegeta, and Frieza fought over Planet Namek’s Dragon Balls.

• Goku and the Z Fighters confronted Vegeta, Raditz, and Nappa, and the Saiyans demanded that Goku reveal how to become a Super Saiyan.
• Gohan and Piccolo fought Nappa while Goku battled Vegeta, but Vegeta killed Piccolo before Goku defeated him and spared him.
• Gran confronted Vegeta and made him kneel to protect Tights, then told Bulma that Piccolo could be revived with the Dragon Balls on Planet Namek.
• Raditz asked Gran about becoming a Super Saiyan, while Bulma prepared to take Goku, Gohan, and Krillin to Planet Namek to revive Piccolo and seek a cure for Goku’s heart disease.
• Gran visited Frieza, defeated him in their sparring match, healed him with Time Power, and traveled onward to Universe 6.
• Gran stayed with Champa and Vados, trained Champa, and agreed to become Universe 6’s Candidate God of Destruction while remaining Universe 7’s candidate.
• Vados explained that Gran’s Ultra Instinct was limited by his state of mind, and Gran stopped his meditation before reaching the Third Layer so he could return to Universe 7.
• A month later, Goku, Vegeta, and Frieza fought above Planet Namek for its Dragon Balls, while the Grand Elder told Bulma and Tights he could summon Gran by calling for Whis.

Gran helped end the Namek crisis, revived those Frieza had killed, and turned to preparing Broly and the two universes for a tournament. The arc ended with Broly and Paragus agreeing to enter the contest while Tights remained with them.

• Gran returned to Namek, promised the Grand Elder that the Namekians would survive the crisis, and watched Goku and the Saiyans fight Frieza.
• Frieza killed Krillin, Raditz, Nappa, and Vegeta, prompting Goku to become a Super Saiyan and defeat him.
• Gran used Porunga and Earth’s Dragon God to revive those Frieza had killed, move Namek to a safer region, and learn that Porunga knew nothing about the demons’ origins.
• Gran visited Frieza and Cooler in Otherworld and ordered them to train if they wanted to earn resurrection, while the Grand Elder shared his remaining lifespan with the Namekians through Divine Fruits.
• The Grand Elder unlocked the potential of Krillin, Gohan, and Piccolo, while Goku kept his own increased strength secret and left Namek with his companions.
• Gran trained Broly, proposed a Universe 6 and Universe 7 tournament, and asked the Galactic King to announce strength-based contests with Life Fruits as the prize.
• Broly reunited with Paragus and confronted Vegeta, Raditz, and Nappa, but Goku used Instant Transmission to rescue the three Saiyans before Broly defeated him.

Gran announced his tournament and cultivated Universe 6, while Zamas investigated Universe 7’s rising Mortal Level Index and became suspicious of its changes. Gran investigated the Demons with Kronoa, then reunited with Merus and helped Piccolo assimilate Slug before asking Merus about reaching the Angel Realm.

• Gran left for Planet Sadala, killed Bella to trigger Erin’s Super Saiyan transformation, and revealed to Queen Natasha that he was Universe 6’s Candidate God of Destruction.
• Gran ordered the announcement of his tournament and spent thirteen years cultivating Universe 6’s Destruction Rule, while Universe 7’s Mortal Level Index rose from 3.18 to 3.6.
• Rumsshi sent Zamas and Primo to investigate Universe 7, where Old Kai rejected their request for help and Zamas redirected their journey to Universe 6.
• Gran traveled with Kronoa to the past to witness a Demon appear, but they could not discover where it came from, and the Time King warned them not to investigate further.
• Gran returned to Universe 7, found its inhabitants training for the tournament, and encountered Merus pursuing Slug at Galactic Prison.
• Gran sparred with Merus and learned about Miracle Power, then agreed that Piccolo could assimilate Slug despite the risk of Slug overpowering him.
• Piccolo overcame Slug’s consciousness, gained a restored body with 1.2 billion Battle Power, and left for Earth after Merus rescued him from space.
• Gran and Merus traveled to Galactic Prison, where Gran asked whether reaching the Angel Realm would subject him to Angel rules, and Merus explained that his wild Angel status exempted him.
