Background / History

Tang Chen was a once-renowned Clear Sky Sect prodigy who considered himself invincible in his youth. After reaching a bottleneck, he traveled the continent in search of a path to godhood and eventually discovered the Asura God's divine inheritance within the City of Slaughter. 11

His divine trial was sabotaged by a contingency left behind by the Rakshasa God, the Asura God's opponent. With his mind trapped, Tang Chen was controlled by the original King of Slaughter, a hundred-thousand-year Bat King, and became the City's new ruler. 11

The Heavenly Curtain's blessing purged his negative state and restored his control over his body. His identity as the King of Slaughter was then exposed to the continent, prompting the Clear Sky Sect to announce its reemergence and prepare to welcome back its old ancestor. 11

Tang Hao and Tang San reunited with Tang Chen in the City of Slaughter. After the Sky Screen disclosed methods of attaining godhood, Tang Chen promised to secure a divine opportunity for Tang San because of his Twin Martial Souls. 17

Personality

Tang Chen retains the pride of a peerless prodigy, but his failed divine trial has made him wary of purported godhood opportunities. Upon hearing of the Mystery of Godhood, he immediately questioned whether it could be another trap like the City of Slaughter. 17

He is intensely protective of Tang San following the revelation that Tang San is a transmigrator. Although he offers protection from the continent-wide hunt, he also intends to use Tang San's otherworldly sect foundation to elevate the Clear Sky Sect beyond Martial Soul Hall. 23

In combat, Tang Chen is direct and bloodthirsty. He was the first of the assembled peak experts to attack Li Xuan during the struggle for the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud. 19
