Background

Vegeta was born into Saiyan royalty with a Battle Power of 800. King Vegeta regarded him as the greatest newborn in Saiyan history and raised him as the hope of the Saiyan race. 125

At age five, Vegeta witnessed Beerus effortlessly overpower King Vegeta inside the Saiyan royal palace. The experience left him with firsthand knowledge of the God of Destruction's overwhelming strength. 137

Arrival on Earth

Vegeta and Nappa arrive on Earth after a journey lasting more than ten months. Their scouters detect Raditz’s unexpected Battle Power, prompting immediate alarm; Vegeta is then decisively defeated and humiliated by Raditz. 116 118

After remaining on Earth, Vegeta investigates Raditz’s growth, encounters Broly, and becomes caught in the aftermath of Nappa’s crimes. Broly later gives him fifty Senzu Beans and orders him to train until he can defeat Goku. 125 137 138

Battle with Goku

Having raised his Battle Power to 400,000, Vegeta challenges Goku to settle their rivalry. Goku’s Kaio-ken repeatedly overturns Vegeta’s advantage, pushing him to create an artificial full moon and become a Great Ape. 140 141 142

Despite reaching over three million Battle Power, Vegeta is unable to defeat Goku cleanly. Broly intervenes after Vegeta provokes him, blocks the Great Ape’s attack with one hand, and sends Vegeta crashing away with a light push. 143

Vegeta retreats from Earth and heads toward Namek, intending to use the Dragon Balls to become a Super Saiyan and take revenge on both Broly and Frieza. 144

Namek Conflict

On Namek, he works against Frieza’s Dragon Ball hunt, rescues a Namekian child, and kills Frieza Force soldiers. 155 His attempt to ambush Frieza fails, leaving him critically injured until Goku saves him with a Senzu Bean. 167
