History

During the war following the collision of the Sun Moon and Douluo Continents, Shrek led the continent’s allied Soul Masters against the Sun Moon Empire. The Dragon Elephant Sect’s ancestor answered Shrek’s call and became powerful enough to contest the academy for initiative. Shrek allegedly branded him a traitor, lured him to Sea God Island, killed him in an ambush, and attempted to eliminate the Dragon Elephant Sect; this became the foundation of the sects’ millennia-long enmity 13.

Shrek subsequently stood as a dominant force on the continent for ten thousand years. It is associated with the legacy of the Sea God, the Shrek Seven Devils, and the Sea God Pavilion, and was feared by the Three Great Empires for both its elite combat strength and ability to rally allied Soul Masters 2 142.

Its reputation began collapsing after former Shrek students connected to the Seven Evils of Star Dou were exposed. These former students committed robberies and murders while retaining pride in their Shrek background; they avoided targeting people in Shrek uniforms and were not pursued by the academy’s Inspectorate 93. Mu En publicly apologized for Shrek’s failures after the resulting scandal spread across the continent 97.

At the Heaven Spirit Empire competition, Dean Yan Shaozhe assaulted Sun Moon Empire students and later attacked Chen Ming during an official match. The confrontation escalated into a clash with multiple high-level Soul Masters, ending with Xuan Zi and Shrek’s participating students captured by the Sun Moon Empire, while Yan Shaozhe escaped with the aid of Evil Soul Masters 116 117 120 121.

The defeat triggered a major institutional crisis. Student enrollment fell by half, thirty percent of Inner Court students left, and rumors about Shrek’s links to Evil Soul Masters intensified 121. The Sea God Pavilion is Shrek’s highest authority and directs the academy’s actual operations. Its elders retained control even after Long Xiaoyao became Dean, using him chiefly as a powerful external symbol during the academy’s decline 130.

The Inner Court is regarded as Shrek’s core. Its students and graduates include many of the academy’s strongest combatants, though the academy’s scandals and defeats caused significant departures among this group 121 130.

Xuan Zi’s corruption

Xuan Zi’s Godly Taotie Bull Martial Soul developed in an increasingly sinister direction. He secretly consumed Soul Beasts, later escaped Shrek, and fully descended into an Evil Soul Master, becoming a direct threat to the academy he claimed to protect 174 193 196.

Later Soul Master Competition

Five years after the Heaven Spirit Empire incident, Shrek returned to the Soul Master Competition with a weakened and internally divided team.
