Background / History
Minagawa was born beside the Naka River, from which his parents derived his name. His parents died during the Third Great Ninja War, leaving him an orphan. In his previous life, he was an office worker who died from overwork and sleep deprivation; his memories resurfaced during this life, giving him knowledge of future events and the original timeline. At age eleven, he was in his final year of the Ninja Academy and deliberately kept a low profile despite being considered an Uchiha prodigy. 1 2
Foreseeing Shisui Uchiha’s death and the impending Uchiha Clan Downfall, Minagawa unsuccessfully staked out the Naka River to prevent Shisui’s suicide. Once he understood that the massacre was imminent, he focused on acquiring enough strength and leverage to keep the clan alive. 1
He awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan through accumulated negative emotions, then used his foreknowledge to manipulate the factions pursuing the Uchiha’s destruction. While disguised as “Uchiha Madara,” he infiltrated Root and ANBU facilities, provoked Shimura Danzō, stole Hashirama Cells, and turned Konoha’s leadership and Obito against one another. 3 10 12 14
During the attempted clan massacre, Minagawa confronted Itachi and Obito directly. He defeated Obito, removed his Mangekyō Sharingan, subdued Itachi, and subsequently convinced Itachi to abandon the extermination plan and return to the Uchiha side. 21 23 25 28 30
Appearance
Minagawa is a young Uchiha with the clan crest on his clothing. His appearance and age initially cause Konoha’s leadership to underestimate—or fail to identify—the Mangekyō wielder operating behind the scenes. 44 49
- Possesses the Uchiha clan crest. 161
- Uses a black cloak with red clouds and an orange one-eyed spiral mask when impersonating Obito’s “Madara” identity. 10
- His Mangekyō pattern is similar enough to Obito’s to support the disguise in low visibility. 10
- Later reveals the Rinnegan before the Konoha council. 138
Personality
Minagawa is pragmatic, calculating, and highly distrustful of political authority. He views Shisui and Itachi as dangerously naïve for placing faith in Konoha’s leadership, and he consistently prioritizes preparation, information control, and eliminating weaknesses before confronting stronger opponents. 1 6 10
Despite initially treating Fugaku and Itachi as useful pieces in his plan, he becomes more willing to trust those who prove loyal. He spares Itachi because he believes Itachi can still change, protects Sasuke, and eventually accepts Fugaku as a retainer after recognizing his consistent loyalty. 23 26 61 149
He prefers acting from the shadows rather than attracting attention, intending for Fugaku and Itachi to serve as public figures while he provides decisive advice and force when necessary. This caution remains even after his power grows dramatically. 14
Abilities & Skills
Sharingan and Mangekyō Sharingan
Minagawa’s dōjutsu forms the basis of his combat ability, perception, copying, genjutsu, and materialization techniques.
- Three-Tomoe Sharingan improves his taijutsu, genjutsu, chakra, dynamic vision, and ability to copy ninjutsu. 2
- His Mangekyō is awakened through a deliberate emotional process rather than an uncontrolled trauma response. 4
- He uses the Sharingan to hypnotize and control White Zetsu. 6
- He learns from opponents’ movements in battle to compensate for his initial lack of combat experience. 36
- His original Mangekyō suffered heavy chakra consumption and risked visual deterioration before his later upgrades. 6
Izanagi — Materialization to Void
Minagawa’s left-eye Mangekyō technique converts materialized targets into void-like states.
- Creates his intangibility, allowing him to pass through people, traps, barriers, and attacks. 10 13
- Can be applied to external objects and lets him perceive concealed targets through their physical cover. 6
- Extinguishes Itachi’s Amaterasu by converting the black flames into void. 23
- Serves as a defensive trump card in close combat and infiltration. 20 36
- Unlike Obito’s Kamui, its early intangibility has no inherent space-time property. 13
Izanami — Materialization to Reality
Minagawa’s right-eye Mangekyō technique is the counterpart to Izanagi.
- Possesses the power of “Materialization to Reality.” 4
- Complements Izanagi, allowing their combined effects to develop beyond either individual technique. 4
Dream Space and Kamui World
The fusion of Minagawa’s paired Mangekyō abilities creates a personal domain that later merges with Obito’s Kamui dimension.
- The Dream Space functions as a controlled storage and experimentation area. 13 53
- He stores stolen Mangekyō Sharingan there to keep them beyond Zetsu’s reach. 53
- It allows him to fuse bloodlines and dōjutsu under his authority. 6 71
- After fusing Obito’s eyes, it becomes the Kamui World, a space he can open and close with far lower cost than his previous materialization-based transport. 54 70
- The Kamui World can materialize training opponents, including a recreation of Might Guy. 87
- It absorbs Nature Energy, which Minagawa can use to strengthen his body but cannot store indefinitely. 87
- After his Rinnegan awakens, it evolves into a nascent world from which he can draw limited World Power. 137
Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan
Minagawa achieves an Eternal Mangekyō by fusing Obito’s Mangekyō pair with his own rather than using a direct relative’s eyes.
- Removes the need to hesitate over Mangekyō use due to its prior drawbacks. 70
- Grants practical access to Kamui World-based space-time techniques. 70
- Enables him to perform stable Mangekyō fusion for others, including Fugaku’s evolution using Shisui’s eyes. 71
- Reaches Super Kage Level after combining this power with combat training and accumulated ninja knowledge. 70
Wood Release and Sage Body
Minagawa activates a perfect Sage Body through Hashirama Cells and manifests Wood Style comparable to Hashirama’s.
- Possesses greatly increased chakra reserves, recovery speed, and vitality. 14
- Regenerates without hand seals or markings. 14
- Uses enhanced Spore Technique and Chakra Absorption inherited through White Zetsu fusion. 14 16
- Creates Wood Clones to perform long-term work and training simultaneously. 162
- Uses Wood Release: Deep Forest Emergence to create a forest across dozens of kilometers around Sand Wind City. 162
- Uses Wood Release: Wood Golem Wall to seal a collapsing Gelel-energy chamber. 166
Genjutsu and Kotoamatsukami Research
Minagawa studies Shisui’s Mangekyō rather than retaining it as his primary eye.
- Temporarily transplants Shisui’s eye into himself to analyze Kotoamatsukami. 54
- Determines that Kotoamatsukami plants commands in consciousness and can alter memories through the target’s spirit and soul. 54
- Uses the Dream Space’s absolute control to observe its mechanism in detail. 54
- Warns that Kotoamatsukami can be noticed by powerful or strong-willed targets and cannot control thoughts permanently. 72
Rinnegan and Six Paths Techniques
Minagawa’s Rinnegan is naturally awakened after he merges with Ten-Tails fragments.
- Uses Super Almighty Push/Shinra Tensei on a scale capable of devastating Cloud Ninja forces and injuring the Raikage and Tailed Beasts. 137 143
- Learns that reducing Shinra Tensei’s range allows continuous use without cooldown. 143
- Uses Super: Seal Absorption Technique to enclose an entire Gelel Ore Vein and prevent energy leakage. 166
- Can use the Outer Path — Samsara of Heavenly Life Technique, though it requires the caster’s life. 162
- His Rinnegan develops the Kamui World rather than a unique personal technique like Limbo. 137
Spacetime Ninjutsu
Minagawa’s space-time ability develops from his Kamui World, Dragon Vein energy, and enhanced spacetime attributes.
- Uses Kamui to pursue Kawaki into another dimension. 169
- Impersonates Kawaki to receive Isshiki’s Karma, then devours Isshiki’s chakra and memories. 169
- Can sense spacetime fluctuations and extend perception across the Ninja World and into space. 171
- Travels without hand seals after using sensory perception to determine a safe destination. 172
- His positioning remains dependent on chakra sensing and familiarity with a location’s layout. 172
Taijutsu and Physical Training
Minagawa actively trains to ensure his physical ability keeps pace with his dōjutsu and chakra.
- Trains under Might Guy after bonding over their dedication to intense training. 73
- Spars with Guy and uses the Great Fireball Technique tactically to create time and distance. 74
- Learns the Light-Weight Rock Technique and Heavy-Weight Rock Technique from Ōnoki, then uses them for gravity training. 183
- Develops Super Strength Technique into a standard attack method because of its exceptional chakra efficiency. 159

Story Role / Major Arcs
Uchiha Clan Downfall
Minagawa identifies the approaching massacre, prepares his Mangekyō awakening, acquires Hashirama Cells, and destabilizes the alliance between Konoha’s leadership, Obito, and Itachi. He intervenes when the slaughter begins, defeats Obito and Itachi, and becomes a central strategist in the Uchiha counterattack. 1 30
Uchiha Faction Consolidation
After the crisis, Minagawa helps establish the Uchiha’s internal power structure, supports Fugaku’s leadership, trains Sasuke, secures Mangekyō resources, and uses Obito’s eyes to reach the Eternal Mangekyō. 33 53 54 61 70 72
Rise to Six Paths Power
Minagawa expands his training into Wood Release, taijutsu, Nature Energy, and space-time techniques. By merging Ten-Tails fragments, he awakens the Rinnegan and becomes confident enough to confront the Cloud Ninja army alone. 73 87 137 143
Land of Wind Development
Serving as Konoha’s representative, Minagawa assists the Land of Wind with canals and afforestation. He creates a vast forest around Sand Wind City, refines his chakra control, and absorbs Gelel energy to raise his chakra reserves to Ten-Tails-comparable levels. 161 166
Ōtsutsuki and Spacetime Conflict
Minagawa infiltrates Isshiki’s dimension, impersonates Kawaki, receives Isshiki’s Karma, and devours Isshiki’s chakra and memories. He later absorbs Dragon Vein energy through the Kamui World, gaining advanced spacetime sensing and travel. 169 172
Trivia
- His name comes from the Naka River beside which he was born. 1
- He regards the Mangekyō Sharingan as an “eye of protection,” rather than a cursed eye. 31
- He intentionally avoids revealing his Wood Release because he does not want others to learn that it came from Hashirama Cell fusion. 159 160
- His reputation outside Konoha is feared as much as admired; Sand Ninja compare him to a second Asura of the Ninja World. 161
