Background / History

Gu Han is conscripted into border service after the Gu Family’s Third Elder secretly replaces his grandson’s name with Gu Han’s on the military list. The other Gu Family disciples who arrive with him in Mushan City become warriors and look after him. 1

While serving as a logistics soldier, he kills a Great White Rabbit and awakens the Soul-Snatching System, which allows him to absorb attributes from corpses. He quickly concludes that personally killing prey yields greater rewards than collecting others’ kills, and begins hunting relentlessly to build his strength. 1 2

Gu Han’s first major conflict arises when another logistics squad attempts to seize the Green Wolf he and Ma Tie’s group kill. He defeats several attackers, then kills the stronger veteran Li Xuan in self-defense with a poison-tipped dagger. The System doubles his extraction reward for defeating an enemy above his level. 3 4 5

During the logistics assessment, Fang Yan and others accuse him of stealing prey. Gu Han answers the accusations by challenging a five-man squad alone, defeats them with a staff, and has his first-place result upheld. Although Qian Fu offers to transfer him to the Warrior Camp, Gu Han refuses so he can continue hunting freely and conceal the System. 10 11 12 13 14

He later hunts deeper in the wilderness, acquires the Water Essence Lotus, and raises Little Wolf into a Phantom Water Wolf King. His growing power draws attention from Guan Shan, who initially suspects him of being an enemy spy but instead covertly provides opportunities and resources. 20 23 28 29

Personality

Gu Han is pragmatic, ambitious, and strongly focused on survival. Initially unsettled by killing Li Xuan, he nevertheless decides that someone trying to take his life cannot be spared. 5

He is calm under accusations and danger, preferring decisive demonstrations over arguments. When accused of stealing prey, he refuses to explain an act he did not commit and instead proves his ability through combat. 11 12

Despite guarding the System as his greatest secret, Gu Han values his brothers and companions. He shares Blood Tempering Pills with Gu Chen, Gu Lin, Gu Fan, Gu Jing, and Gu Ming, and repeatedly places himself in danger to protect Gu Lin and Gu Chen. 25 30 33 34

Abilities & Skills

Soul-Snatching System

Gu Han can extract attributes and Martial Skill Experience by touching corpses, allowing him to grow through hunting and combat.

  • Gains attributes such as Blood Qi, Vitality, Strength, Defense, Speed, and Spirit from beasts and defeated opponents. 1 2 3 25
  • Personally killed prey generally yields greater rewards than corpses received from others or shared kills. 2
  • Defeating a higher-level opponent doubles the extraction reward. 5
  • Can obtain martial skills directly from corpses, as with Wind Breaking Stab from Xue Wen. 34
  • Must still cultivate Blood Qi and advance realms; raw attributes alone cannot substitute for realm progression. 6

Fierce Fist

Gu Han’s primary martial skill and preferred unarmed combat technique.

  • Raised to Slightly Accomplished through Martial Skill Experience after killing Li Xuan. 6
  • Advances to Intermediate by the time he reaches the fifth-order Martial Disciple realm. 23
  • Used to overpower ambushers, kill high-order demonic beasts, and contend with Xue Wen. 24 33 41
  • Reaches Proficient by the tenth-order Martial Disciple realm. 42

Wind Breaking Stab

A Yellow-grade Mid-tier stabbing skill learned from Xue Wen’s corpse.

  • Prioritizes extreme speed and difficult-to-guard-against attacks over raw destructive force. 34
  • Gives Gu Han a weapon technique, reducing his reliance on fist techniques. 34
  • Reaches Slightly Mastered by the tenth-order Martial Disciple realm. 42

Hunting and Battlefield Improvisation

Gu Han uses terrain, bait, speed, and enemy behavior to overcome stronger prey and opponents.

  • Lures a Green Wolf with a rabbit carcass and deliberately leaves it an escape route before crippling it. 3
  • Uses speed and positioning to defeat four logistics soldiers despite inferior raw Strength. 4
  • Uses a poison-tipped dagger to kill the stronger Li Xuan. 5
  • Waits for the Wave-Treading Bull and Phantom Water Wolf to exhaust each other before attempting to seize the Water Essence Lotus. 20
  • Conceals evidence by feeding Li Xuan’s corpse to Green Wolves. 6
