"Mm, I'll just sell it directly at the market later," Yun Shu said. "I have some other things on hand too."
Lin Yang nodded. Something this valuable in his possession would keep him up at night worrying. If it got lost, it was something Yun Shu had risked his life for—he wouldn't even know how to explain it to him.
Everything from before had already been exchanged at the sect, leaving only a few live creatures as extras.
For example, three Golden Python Tiger cubs.
Though one had been handed over, two still remained.
If not for the Talisman Seal suppressing their cultivation and simple restraints binding their limbs, Lin Yang's room probably wouldn't have been able to hold them.
"I'll go turn in the mission first," Yun Shu said.
"Alright, I'll go fetch those two little ones," Lin Yang nodded.
It was still the Fat Steward. Even with people coming and going all around, he kept his head down, dozing off. If you looked closely, you could even hear faint snoring.
Asleep?
Yun Shu was a bit speechless.
He usually came to pick up missions at night, so it made sense for the steward to be asleep then. But in broad daylight, with disciples constantly coming to take and browse missions—didn't he care at all?
Soon, a disciple spoke up. "Ding Fourteen."
The Fat Steward shot to his feet, not even wiping the drool from the corner of his mouth. "Give me your Jade Token."
Yun Shu: "..."
Why bother? If you're going to slack off, at least commit to it.
The Fat Steward quickly noticed Yun Shu. He couldn't help it—it was hard not to notice. Here was a man leading three demonic wolves with an oppressive, terrifying aura, and the crowd had unconsciously cleared a space around him.
People took detours, and a few even commented.
"Isn't that a Three-Eyed Demonic Wolf? I've seen it in the Sect Scripture. I never thought someone could actually subdue one. Who's that in black?"
At the moment, Yun Shu wore a black robe. It wasn't the kind of cloak that covered his face, but it gave him a sharp, capable look.
"That guy... I think I remember him. About half a month ago, he just entered the Inner Sect. He was guided in and became an Inner Sect Disciple. Must have caught some elder's eye."
"I remember now. He's Yun Shu—Senior Brother Yun Shu! He's best at Body Tempering, with incredible talent as a Body Cultivator. I heard it even caused a stir in the Inner Sect. Too bad his talent on the Immortal Path isn't great."
"Where'd you hear that?"
"My senior brother's uncle is an Inner Sect Disciple on Spirit Sword Peak. He said that when Senior Brother Yun Shu practiced his body techniques, even the Transmission Elder was startled."
"Alright, but since Senior Brother Yun Shu is already in the Inner Sect, why would he come back to take Outer Sect missions?"
"You don't get it. Some Outer and Inner Sect missions overlap. It's just rare for Inner Sect disciples to come pick them up. And there are talents among Outer Sect disciples who can take Inner Sect missions!"
"I understand all that, but this is a Three-Eyed Demonic Wolf! A Demonic Beast at the Demonic Transformation level, and they travel in packs. He caught three of them, and judging by their condition, they took quite a beating. And you call that weak talent on the Immortal Path?"
"I don't know about that. All I know is, Senior Brother Yun Shu has a Triple Spiritual Root, but his Body Tempering skill and talent are said to already surpass Chen Hong back in the day."
"But the Myriad Sword Pavilion is ultimately a Sword Path sect..."
"We'll see. Gold shines wherever it goes. At least he's way stronger than us now. An Inner Sect Disciple—that's my lifelong goal!"
In an instant, many Outer Sect Disciples looked at him with reverence.
Leaving aside everything else, breaking out from the Outer Sect to become an Inner Sect Disciple was something every Outer Sect Disciple could take pride in.
They themselves weren't that strong and knew how hard it was.
If they had to take the Inner Sect exam, they'd have absolutely no hope.
And being personally scouted and brought into the Inner Sect by an elder? That was like a god among men—someone destined to be a pillar of the sect.
Inner Sect Disciples were like towering peaks, only to be gazed up at. Every one of them was a prodigy, a dragon among men—that was almost beyond question.
Even the weakest Inner Sect Disciple was on par with the strongest Outer Sect Disciples.
Ordinary Inner Sect Disciples were rarely seen. The Nine Peaks were a sacred place unreachable for mortals, and for them, it was the same—a place they could only look at from afar.
Yun Shu heard their chatter and rubbed his chin. It seemed his reputation in the Outer Sect was pretty decent?
As for the regretful murmurs from the Inner Sect, Yun Shu didn't pay them much mind.
He had strength, status, and a respectable position—what more could he ask for?
He was an orthodox disciple of the Myriad Sword Pavilion, the personal disciple of the Spirit Sword Peak's master's junior brother. Just that title alone was enough to let him walk sideways in the Inner Sect.
Though his Master couldn't reveal his identity, the Sect Master and other High Level figures definitely knew.
Steward Kong naturally heard the chatter too and gave Yun Shu a somewhat surprised look.
Others might not understand the strength needed to defeat demonic wolves, but he did.
These three wolves before him were at least comparable to Qi Condensation Stage cultivators.
A whole pack of Three-Eyed Demonic Wolves together would make even a Foundation Establishment Stage cultivator cautious, because once the wolves got close, they could tear you apart in an instant—no time to cast a Spell Technique.
Unless you were a Body Cultivator!
He then took a serious look at Yun Shu, sensing his aura.
It was like a blazing sun, carrying a power that demanded submission—exactly the same pressure the old man had given him back when he hadn't yet sheathed his edge.
After a long silence, he blurted out a single word: "Strong!"
"You've figured out the old man's cultivation method. It hasn't been long, and I can already feel the powerful body cultivator strength in you," the Fat Steward said. "Even that one back in the day didn't progress as absurdly as you."
Yun Shu just smiled. Though he said nothing on the surface, he was inwardly shocked.
He had been doing his utmost to conceal his aura, yet this man had still seen through him. This showed that the Fat Steward's own strength was no less deeply hidden!
Without exaggeration, even an ordinary cultivator at the Peak Stage of Qi Condensation might not be able to discern his current body cultivator cultivation.
Didn't that mean this man was at least at the Foundation Establishment Stage?
Why was he only serving as a steward here?
He was more than qualified to become an Elder in the Inner Sect.
Then again, it might just be the Fat Steward's guess. Who could say for sure?
"Alright, leave the Three-Eyed Demonic Wolf here. I'll add the Contribution Points for you." The Fat Steward sighed with emotion before speaking.
By the time Yun Shu got it back, the Contribution Points had turned into 36.
"There's also this Spirit Fox."
Yun Shu finally placed the white Spirit Fox that had followed him onto the counter. It had been cowering in the corner under the oppressive aura of the Three-Headed Demonic Wolf and only now dared to show itself.
The Fat Steward waved a hand dismissively. "Just leave it here. An Elder in charge of distributing tasks will come to pick it up later."
"Do you also accept Demonic Beast pelts and bones here?" Yun Shu was about to leave but stopped as if something had occurred to him.
"We do, but the price is a bit lower than outside. You can check the market out there." The Fat Steward nodded, perking up at the topic.
He could still take a cut from this.
Even if it was pitifully small, something was better than nothing. Who would ever complain about having more money?
Yun Shu shook his head slightly. "I'll sell the good stuff outside. As for the leftovers, just give me a bulk price for them. They're taking up space."
"Fair enough. I wonder how much there is?" the Fat Steward said.
Yun Shu then took out his Storage Bag. "Probably quite a lot."
The Storage Bag his Master had given him wasn't the cheapest kind that could only hold a few Demonic Beast corpses. At the very least, after stuffing all his recent harvest—useful or not—into it, there was still plenty of empty space.
The Fat Steward wasn't surprised that Yun Shu had a Storage Bag, but he did pause to think. "Follow me."
He then led Yun Shu to a warehouse.
Inside were Demonic Beast corpses and parts, with dedicated disciples sorting them.
"This is where the sect stores Demonic Beast corpses. Their bodies are highly valuable and have all kinds of uses. The sect collects most of them for Alchemy and Artifact Refining. Some things, like Demonic Beast blood, can be used to make Talismans, and certain special parts have plenty of uses in the market."
Yun Shu nodded slightly.
The sect issued tasks, but it also collected those Demonic Beast corpses.
Not to mention anything else, just the fact that Demonic Beast blood could be used to draw Talismans required a massive stockpile of beasts.
Of course, the most important uses were Alchemy and Artifact Refining.
Demonic Beasts—especially those that had undergone Demonic Transformation—could be said to be treasures from head to toe. This was just a simple warehouse; the actual processing site wasn't here. Aside from what the sect needed, everything else would be taken to the Market Below the Mountain for further processing.
Some could even be used as decorations.
The Fat Steward found an empty space. "Just put it here."
Yun Shu tipped his Storage Bag over.
In an instant, Demonic Wolf corpses, along with a mess of other fierce beasts, poured out of the bag, each radiating a terrifying aura.
All told, there were seventeen Demonic Beasts that had already undergone Demonic Transformation. As for those that hadn't, there were even more—several dozen of them, all collected on a whim.
Occasionally, a few low-grade medicinal herbs could be seen mixed in. Yun Shu hadn't planned on selling those for any price, but he had still gathered them.
