Background / History

Kakashi returned from the war burdened by the deaths of his close friends. He became isolated and despairing, ignoring both Bai Yue’s greeting and Might Guy’s repeated attempts to engage him. Bai Yue believed that Minato’s guilt and pursuit of the Hokage position had prevented him from consoling Kakashi in time. 10

At Minato’s home, Kakashi reluctantly accepted Guy’s challenge after Minato encouraged the duel. He matched Guy’s escalating taijutsu with exceptional reactions, the Sharingan, Body Flicker Technique, and Substitution Technique. 11

Following Minato and Kushina’s deaths, Kakashi again stood withdrawn at the Memorial Stone. Guy, Bai Yue, and the other mourners were unable to offer him a clear way forward. 60 61

He later became Team 7’s jonin instructor. Though Bai Yue criticized him for neglecting Naruto’s foundational training, Kakashi responded by teaching Team 7 tree climbing and explaining its importance for chakra efficiency and ninjutsu strength. 129 131
