Classification
Sha Qi is a category of high-level spiritual energy used in advanced cultivation, especially in sword-sha techniques. Individual Earth Sha types can be broken down into the fundamental Five Elements Essences. These comprise yin and yang variants of wood, fire, earth, metal, and water, designated by the ten heavenly stems. 333
Under Immortal Sect standards, a single strand of Sha Qi is divided into ten streams; each stream contains ten wisps, and each wisp contains ten filaments. 326
- Of the seven Earth Sha types permitted for extraction by the Immortal Sect, five correspond to the Five Elements. 347
- Higher-grade Sha Qi is extremely scarce: Fourth- and Fifth-Grade varieties are generally sect-protecting treasures or foundations of major Holy Lands. 968
- Sha Qi may occur naturally in underground Earth Sha Yin Caves or be synthesized from Five Elements Essence. 449 333
Known Types
| Sha Qi | Attribute / Origin | Documented Use |
|---|---|---|
| Green Wood Sha | Wood-aligned; produced by Green Wood Sha caves, including one jointly revived near Vermilion Cloud City 347 | Refined by Chen Mobai into Azure Flame Sword Sha through the Azure Sun Fire and Purple Fire Sword Light 326 |
| Clear Wind Sha | Formed where spiritual-qi currents pass through forests and wind qi interweaves with wood qi 376 | Considered for refining into the Crimson Cloud Mist Silk to enhance the magic tool 376 |
| Geng Metal Sword Sha | Metal-aligned Earth Sha available for purchase 347 | Chosen by Zuo Gong because its resource supply did not require personal synthesis 347 |
| Fire Yang Sha | Fire-aligned Sha Qi; Third-Grade examples are traded, while Fourth-Grade examples require greater Earth Master attainment to condense 787 | Fifth-Grade Fire Yang Sha elevated Chen Mobai's Primordial Yang Sword Sha from Fourth Grade toward Fifth Grade 952 |
| Cangyun Sha | One of the Earthly Sha types Chen Mobai later synthesized artificially 968 | Used among the twenty-five First-Grade Earthly Sha types needed to establish the Heavenly Star Realm of an External Incarnation 968 |
Artificial Synthesis
Venerable Yuanxu developed an artificial method for synthesizing Qi of Earth Sha, an achievement for which he received the Immortal Sect's Flying Immortal Award. He publicly released his research afterward. 333
Artificially synthesized Sha Qi can be tailored to a cultivator's needs during production, making it easier and faster to refine than wild Earth Sha in some cases. 333
- Base materials — Five Elements Essence is decomposed from known Earth Sha types and recombined into the desired Sha Qi. 333
- Vital Energy Studies — Sky Mending Dao Academy's Vital Energy Department grew from Yuanxu's synthesis method and researches artificial Sha Qi, spiritual power, divine light, and true qi. 467
- Chen Mobai's synthesis — Using Five Elements Essence and optimized methods, Chen Mobai synthesized the twenty-five First-Grade Earthly Sha types missing from the Five Elements Sect's collection in under a month. 968
- Strategic importance — The Immortal Sect restricts access to certain Sha Qi resources despite their necessity for high-level techniques such as Sword Sha. 333
Uses in Cultivation
Sword Sha Condensation
Sha Qi is a core resource for condensing Sword Sha, allowing sword cultivators to develop stronger and more specialized sword-light techniques. 333 326
- Chen Mobai used Azure Sun Fire, Purple Fire Sword Light, and Green Wood Sha to refine Azure Flame Sword Sha. 326
- His Fire Spirit Body let him absorb and refine the Green Wood Sha directly, avoiding the usual need to temper and cleanse Sword Sha with medicinal ingredients. 326
- Foundation Establishment Late Stage cultivators can normally condense up to twelve strands of Sword Sha; many Core Formation sword cultivators possess only one strand. 324 326
- Refining Fifth-Grade Fire Yang Sha allowed Chen Mobai's Fourth-Grade Great Accomplishment Primordial Yang Sword Sha to cross toward the Fifth Grade. 952
External Incarnation Cultivation
The Heavenly Star Realm of the Longevity Sect's External Incarnation art requires First-Grade Sha Qi to establish its foundation and condense acupoints. 968
- After the foundation is established, the incarnation can passively absorb Heaven and Earth Spiritual Energy to improve, though this process is slow. 968
- Direct refinement of higher-grade Sha Qi into the acupoints can shorten cultivation time severalfold or more. 968
- Chen Mobai used twenty-five types of artificially synthesized First-Grade Earthly Sha to complete the missing foundation of his External Incarnation's Heavenly Star Realm. 968
Acquisition and Scarcity
- The Divine Wood Sect acquired an underground cave capable of producing Sha Qi after its war with Mountain Shaking Peak. 328
- Yan Kingdom contains Earth Sha Yin Caves that produce various Sha Qi, alongside its mineral and Spirit Stone resources. 449
- Green Wood Sha became a valuable and hoarded resource as more cultivators followed Chen Mobai's publicly visible Crimson Flame Sword Art path and sought to cultivate Azure Flame Sword Sha. 968
- Much of the Green Wood Sha available from smaller Eastern Wasteland powers is only First Grade, limiting its use in higher-level sword arts. 550
- Second- and Third-Grade Sha Qi can still be found with relative difficulty, but Fourth- and Fifth-Grade varieties are rarely traded outside their holding sects. 968
