The Human Dictator
Himalayas, the end of the twenty-first century.
From Kashmir to ls, the entire ridge is covered by glaciers and frozen soil, so white it turns blue. Six kilometers up, the air is so thin that even vultures fly around it.
Geologists would say that these peaks were squeezed out when Indian Plate collided with Eurasian Plate, tens of millions of years ago, and they are still growing, a few centimeters per year, so slowly that no one can notice.
But there are many things they can't notice, such as one of the mountains that isn't on any geological map.
The satellite scanned it, and the echo showed that the granite and ice layers had normal density, normal magnetic field, and normal thermal Radiation. It was integrated with the surrounding mountains, with ridges connected to ridges and glaciers next to glaciers, exactly the same.
But it's not right.
The eight legs are embedded in rock and frozen soil, each one several kilometers long. The carapace at the joints is covered with thousands of years of ice and an alloy structure that was later artificially cast.
The surface of the alloy is engraved with alchemical circuits, and the lines are so fine that when viewed up close, they look like the texture of the metal itself.
These circuits have been running for so long that alloys and ice layers have grown together, and the flow of Alchemy and Magic Power has become part of geological activity.
Its breathing rhythm is at the level of the earth's crust. Every time it exhales, the strata within a radius of 300 kilometers will rise and fall slightly.
No one noticed it because seismic monitoring stations classified this frequency as background noise from plate movement.
This mountain is alive.
Regulus stood at the highest point, and a small piece of the ice above Baruk's main eye was flattened, revealing the dark red carapace surface.
He stood on it and looked down.
The wind blew from the west, carrying ice crystals and snow particles, which deflected before hitting him.
The body is wrapped in a layer of Silver Light, which sticks to the skin and extends from the collar to the ankles, flowing in the sun.
The variant of Constant Shield Charm has been maintained for more than a hundred years. The boundary of the spell and the boundary of the skin have overlapped. Magic and the body have long been indistinguishable from each other.
Silver Light condensed into the shape of a robe, swaying slightly with the wind, deep, quiet, with a metallic texture and the flow of liquid.
He looks young, with no wrinkles on his face, slightly curly black hair, and clear gray eyes.
But no one would think that he was young. Age had no effect on him. Time passed by him without leaving any trace.
Underfoot is the end of human civilization.
To the south at the foot of the Himalayas, the entire Ganges Plain has been converted into a construction site.
The orbital elevator rises from the old site of New Delhi, with a base diameter of five kilometers. The mixed structure of reinforced concrete and alchemical alloys extends all the way up, through the clouds, through Stratosphere, and through low-Earth orbit, until it reaches a height invisible to the naked eye.
There is light running on the surface of the elevator, and the pulses of the alchemical circuit flash every few seconds, traveling from the bottom to the top.
The base is surrounded by densely packed buildings. The cooling tower of the fusion reactor is emitting white mist, the surface of the alchemy transformation tower is flowing with dark golden light, the arms of the crane are scratching in the sky, the assembly line of the material factory is non-stop 24 hours a day, and the transport airship is shuttled at low altitude, dragging a long wake behind it.
The wizard is enchanting metal, and the tip of the wand lights up with lights of different colors, shining on Star Iron passing by on the conveyor belt.
Muggle is welding structural parts, and the Spark Spell of the welding gun falls down from the steel frame thousands of meters high, row after row, from one end to the other, with no end in sight.
House-elf is carrying precision components, carrying parts that are more than ten times larger than the body and walking between factories.
Billions of people, millions of wizards, all races, all camps, and all once hostile forces were united on this plain to do the same thing.
Build something that will send their dictator Solar System.
The well-deserved leader of mankind and the enemy of mankind. The earth wants him to leave.
Baruk A person walked out of the alloy channel on the carapace.
The entrance to the passage was about two hundred meters below the main eye, embedded between the carapace and the ice. An alloy door slid open, and a man in robes walked out.
Avery·Cuthbert.
He is old, his hair is completely white, and his face has deep wrinkles. His body of one hundred, thirty or forty years old is entirely supported by Potions and Alchemy.
Wearing a robe of invisible material, dark gray, with the coat of arms of United Earth Government embroidered on the chest, there is an earth crisscrossed by wands and gears, and a line of Latin at the bottom, human means, go forward.
He walked up the alloy steps on the surface of the carapace, walked behind Regulus, and stopped.
The wind was very strong, and the air was already thin at this height. He stood there for a long time.
When I was a child, I could talk playfully, then I could speak respectfully, and then I could only stand silently.
Regulus has not changed, his appearance has not changed, his way of speaking has not changed, and even the way he looks at people has not changed.
Avery has changed his whole life, from the age of thirteen to one hundred and thirty or forty years old, from the little follower behind Regulus to the executive in charge of earth affairs.
It took him so many years to get to the position closest to Regulus, and then he found that this position was no different from the chair opposite Regulus he had sat in Slytherin common room when he was thirteen. There was a layer of things between them.
Regulus never let him get closer, but he didn't know what tone to use.
"All modules are in place," Avery finally spoke, his voice hoarse, old and dry. "The time window is next month."
Regulus didn't look back or respond.
Avery stood for a while longer, turned around and left. The door of the alloy passage slid shut behind him silently.
This is the last report. Once it is done, he can take over the affairs of the earth.
He has been waiting all his life.
Regulus lowered his head, then squatted down, pressing the palm of his right hand on the ice beneath his feet.
Magic Power seeped in from the palm of the hand, passed through the ice layer, passed through the alloy structure, passed through the carapace, and touched Baruk all the way down.
Baruk woke up, the earth began to shake, and a mountain was moving.
The glacier collapsed from the ridge, and tens of thousands of tons of ice smashed into the valley, kicking up white dust. The dust rushed up to a height of several hundred meters and spread into a white wall in the sunlight.
Rocks peeled off the mountain and fell in pieces, revealing the carapace underneath.
The dark red curved surface is covered with artificially poured alloy lines, and each line begins to glow the moment the ice breaks.
Eight legs were pulled out from the rocks and frozen soil, and each leg was pulled out of the ground, tearing apart the strata for dozens of kilometers in radius.
The ridges of the mountains were broken, the geological structure was torn, and the cracks spread along the Himalayas for hundreds of kilometers.
On Ganges Plain, everyone stopped what they were doing.
The welder in the orbital elevator turned off the welding gun and raised his head. The wizard in the alchemical transformation tower put away his wand and walked to the edge of the tower to look down. House-elf put down the parts in his hand and his ears stood up.
Tens of millions of people left their workplaces and looked north.
A mountain stood up.
Baruk stood between the broken mountains, with eight legs propped up on the cracked ground, blocking out the sky and the sun.
Its body blocked half of the sky, and sunlight shone through the edge of its carapace, casting a city-sized shadow on the ground.
All eight eyes were opened, each an amber abyss the size of a football field.
The chelicerae opened, and the remaining ice and gravel on the carapace fell down, hitting the ground and raising a huge dust column.
Then it began to shrink, from the scale of a mountain to the scale of a building.
The eight legs are folded, the surface area of the carapace is rapidly shrinking, and the alloy lines are squeezed together, making a buzzing resonance sound.
From the scale of a building to the size of a carriage, from the scale of a carriage to the size of a desktop, from the scale of a desktop to the size of a palm.
A small dark red thing jumped out of the dust in the sky and landed on Regulus's shoulder. Eight thin legs hugged his shoulders, the spider's head rubbed against the side of his neck, and its claws clicked.
Regulus reached out and patted its back.
The ridges of the Himalayas behind him collapsed, cracks were still spreading to both sides, glacier fragments were scattered across hundreds of square kilometers, and dust and mist covered half of the sky.
People on Ganges Plain are already taking action, the first restoration teams are gathering, the wizard pulls out his wand, and Muggle starts up the heavy equipment.
The first thing humans did after the dictator left the earth was to repair the geological structure torn apart by Baruk.
