As long as he didn't kill anyone, he was a good boy
Crouch stood very close, the desk beside him, half the firelight illuminating his robes, the other half resting at Regulus's feet.
Regulus had seen everything he needed to see.
Crouch was adorned with several stable protective Magic Power, and a charm beneath his collar was slowly absorbing and releasing Magic Power, interconnected with the protective energy maintained on his robes.
There was also a small device on the side of the waist, with Spatial Structure for teleportation, probably for emergency escape. Another one was hidden deeper, separated by several layers of Magic, and it could only be discerned that it was still in operation.
They brought a wide variety of items.
Crouch's Magic Power was quite substantial; after all, he was the head of an Ancient Families, and over the decades, he had learned everything he needed to know about his family, which was more than enough for ordinary situations.
Going further up, to fight against truly skilled wizards, one has to rely on other things, which is why Moody came.
Those grey-blue eyes were fixed on Regulus's right hand. He leaned back slightly, shifted his weight, and maintained a stern expression, his vigilance even greater than before.
The other two Auror were no less impressive; both were around forty years old, physically robust, with calm gazes, and maintained their protective Magic at all times, possessing ample Magic Power.
As soon as Regulus raised his hand, one of the men turned his gaze toward him, while the other raised his wand.
He's not quite as good Moody's, but he'd definitely be considered elite if placed in Auror Office.
The young man who had just stepped forward to take his wand was weaker in Magic Power, but considering his age, he was still quite capable.
Crouch had indeed considered the possibility of conflict; the people around him, the gadgets he carried, and the Auror scattered outside were all preparations.
Regulus understood the source of his confidence.
Although the Ministry of Magic often appears foolish, slow in its work, and prone to passing the buck between departments, it actually has quite a few methods at its disposal when it comes to dealing with a family.
Investigations keep coming one after another, from one department to another. You deal with one, and another one comes. You get rid of one official today, but tomorrow there's another document and another batch of people to carry it out.
The Black family's industries had a wide range of businesses, both domestically and internationally, and their public reputation made them a constant target for others.
This group can keep going in circles, until you get annoyed and you have no choice but to sit down and talk to them.
Pureblood families are willing to deal with the Ministry of Ministry of Magic, to curry favor with the Wizengamot, and to spend a lot of money to maintain those relationships, all in the hopes of avoiding unnecessary trouble.
If one could truly make a living solely based on a surname, the number of documents in Orion's Study would be at least half of what it used to be.
Crouch pushed coercive measures in front of him, and he knew exactly what Crouch was thinking.
They bet he would consider the consequences, bet the Black family would need to deal with the Ministry of Magic, and bet the Hogwarts professors would stop an out-of-control conflict.
Even if he does resist, Crouch's possessions and Moody can buy him time to control the situation or retreat.
Crouch had even prepared for what to do after his resistance, yet he still believed he could decide when it would begin and when it would end.
The other party believed they could keep closing in and then use his resistance as a basis for their next move. His restraint made the other party dare to press forward.
Regulus looked at the deep nasolabial folds in front of him and suddenly remembered another office.
In the original destiny, the Ministry of Magic once stood before Dumbledore with its people, intending to take the old man away. At the time, it seemed like a spectacle, but looking back now, it seems rather absurd.
The most powerful wizard in the entire Wizarding World has to listen to others to decide how he will be dealt with, and those others take his self-restraint as the basis for their actions.
The more willing a person is to bear the consequences, the more others will dare to use those consequences to constrain them.
Regulus understood the old man's responsibility, but he didn't quite agree with it.
The pressure on the Ministry of Magic can last a long time, but the immediate orders need to be carried out by specific individuals.
Some wanted to take his wand, some wanted to hold his body down, and some wanted to put medicine into his mouth. Even if more Auror were brought, these people would still have to do all the work.
At his current level, Space Magic allows him to move almost infinitely, and area Magic can take care of a group of people at the same time. The so-called power of the Ministry of Magic is no longer sufficient for him.
He acknowledged that the Ministry of Magic could create further trouble, so he decided to deprive Crouch of the ability to create immediate trouble first.
Moreover, with war imminent and all sides testing the waters, today's outcome will spread. If anyone is planning to take action against Black next time, they will use Crouch's experience today as a reference. Others' expectations for approaching, controlling, and dealing with him must be determined now.
Crouch's arrangements displeased him, seemed absurd to him, and offended him, so Crouch should pay the price.
Just because he is the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement doesn't mean he can do whatever he wants. The UK Ministry of Magic doesn't subscribe to the idea of serving the people, but it should still have some sense of reason.
How Crouch treats others in the future is his business, but this approach won't work on him or the Black family.
Regulus's gaze returned to Crouch's face, and his right index finger gently touched the armrest downwards.
A soft sound rang out, but the true Magic vibrations reached outside of human ears.
The second form of the Severing Charm spreads below 20 Hz, without visual signs or spell flashes.
The moment Regulus raised his hand, Moody strengthened his defenses, unleashing Magic Power that spread across his skin, forming a layer closer to it than a regular Shield Charm, without swelling it into a ball.
He shifted his weight to his left foot, and his eyes suddenly sharpened.
The other two Auror also had their defenses strengthened.
The office was only a few steps away, and the initial sense of danger was enough to trigger their existing vigilance.
By the time the physical discomfort reaches consciousness, and one recognizes from the unfamiliar effects that it is an attack, it is too late to redo the entire defense.
The young Auror was closest to Regulus and reached for his wand lost his footing first, his knee buckled inward, and he crashed into the corner of the desk, half of his body sliding down.
He gripped the edge of the table with one hand, his fingers scratching at the surface before slipping away, his stomach churning.
His neck was tilted to one side, foam began to come out of his mouth, and his eyes were still looking in the direction of Regulus, trying hard to find his location, but his gaze could not focus.
The Auror was close to the glass case immediately knelt down. The protective Magic had already taken shape, but it was still too late. The attack that penetrated first caused him to lose his balance.
My vision shifted, I stepped on the wrong foot, and my knee slammed heavily to the ground.
He braced himself on the ground with one hand, while the other hand remained firmly gripping the wand. He tried to lift it, but his arm trembled so badly that he could barely hold it.
His throat tightened with gagging, and he managed to squeeze out, "Protection!"
The other Auror took a step back, bracing himself against the edge of the table, and stopped abruptly.
The color drained from his face, his broad chest heaved more heavily, but his arm holding the wand remained steady in front of him.
His protective Magic Power continued to be channeled, his gaze fixed on Regulus, his wariness turning into shock and anger. His colleague was kneeling beside him, and he had to suppress his nausea to reach out and help him up.
Moody also experienced severe discomfort, with blurred vision and a tightening of the abdomen.
He suppressed the nausea rising within him, took a step to steady himself, and changed the stern expression on his face to the focus of battle. The old scar bulged out as he clenched his muscles, making him look even more ferocious, and the wand immediately slid into his hand.
He glanced quickly at Crouch to make sure the man was still standing, then fixed his gaze back on Regulus, pointing the tip of his staff at him.
Crouch's protective gear was triggered; the amulet beneath his collar responded briefly, then reconnected with his own Magic Power, enveloping his entire body.
The defenses absorbed a significant portion of the attack, but the remnants that passed through were enough to make his face turn pale.
The color drained quickly, beads of sweat appeared on his forehead, he had difficulty swallowing, his breathing stopped, his pupils dilated, his stomach churned, and the figure in front of him swayed violently.
He gritted his teeth, pressed one hand against the edge of the table to steady himself, and reached for his wand with the other, but his fingers hesitated to grasp it.
His face was pale, but his eyes were frighteningly deep as he stared at the boy in the chair, his anger finally showing without any concealment.
Regulus looked at him, his gaze indifferent.
I heard the sound of the chair cushion shifting beside me.
Slughorn sat up straight as the first person fell, reaching for his wand, his voice urgent. "Regulus!" But the words caught in his throat as he realized what was happening.
He was very close to Regulus, able to sense the Magic passing by. Crouch and the others' defenses were breached, and they began to materialize, collapsing and retching just a few steps away.
He was completely unaffected from head to toe, which told him that Regulus had taken the initiative to protect him.
In Regulus's perception, the propagating vibrations have a clear path.
After crashing into the stone wall and furniture, the attack bounced back, overlapping with the subsequent ripples. The main attack then converged and was released towards the location of Crouch and his group.
The part that entered him and the professor was countered by a set of opposing vibrations.
The returning vibration pushes in one direction, while the vibration he applies goes in the opposite direction, and the two cancel each other out in the protected area.
The sound continued to travel to other parts of the office; the energy of the sound did not simply vanish from the room.
The reflected portion continued to enter his perception, and he adjusted himself according to its changes, ensuring that the protection always remained on the professor's body.
The second form of the Severing Charm relies on the effect of sound waves. The vibrations within the protected area are canceled out, and the attack loses its ability to continue. The harmful Magic Power that has spread to the vicinity of the boundary is then actively drawn back by him.
Simultaneously tracking multiple propagation and reflection paths while maintaining a safe zone is no longer a problem for him, given his current level of perception and Magic Power precision.
Slughorn's attention shifted to the few people who had been infected.
A convulsive sense of imbalance, an overwhelming nausea, and the lingering effects of the Magic Power caused him to frown. After a moment, his gaze suddenly stopped.
Mandrake?
Slughorn noticed the same Magic Power rushing through the wall and returning from the side and rear, once again affecting the defenses of several Auror.
He had certainly seen the Magic of sound transmission; he also knew how to make something inaudible.
The familiar properties of Magic Power matched these changes, and he understood what Regulus was doing.
The surroundings were quiet, but the victims' bodies began to spiral out of control. Barty's protective gear worked, and Moody also shielded himself, but the remaining infiltrated fluids continued to cause them discomfort.
Slughorn looked at Regulus, a hint of surprise in his eyes.
This child used Mandrake in a spell, and he was able to use it so meticulously, separating himself from the target and focusing solely on the other side.
He could tell that the two people who had fallen were still conscious, their bodies were being tortured. The younger one was in worse shape, but it wasn't to an irreversible degree. He could recover after taking some medicine.
He slowly withdrew his hand from inside his robe, sat up straight again, gently patted his stomach, relaxed his brow, and even a slight smile appeared on his face.
I was just hoping Orion or Albus soon, but now I can finally breathe a sigh of relief.
Regulus made a move, but he still kept his distance; a good boy is a good boy.
As for Barty, he should also suffer a bit.
Crouch finally gripped his wand, pursed his lips to suppress another wave of nausea, and looked up at Moody.
His face remained pale, but the anger and command in his eyes were clear, "Alastor, restrain him!"
The Auror who was still standing nearby simultaneously raised his wand to strengthen his defenses and began adjusting his angle.
The younger one struggled on the ground, first trying to prop himself up, his elbow hitting the ground and slipping. He tried again, pushing forward with his knee, but it gave way halfway and he collapsed, his chest pressed against the ground, panting heavily.
The fallen old Auror still tried to raise his wand, one hand on the ground, the other halfway up, his wrist trembling, the tip of the wand wobbling in Regulus's direction before falling back down.
Moody was prepared. He raised his wand, focused his gaze on Regulus's right hand, and simultaneously sensed and observed his surroundings.
He had personally witnessed the attacks that suddenly appeared from all directions on Rowle battlefield, so he wouldn't just focus on the front.
Regulus's face remained expressionless, his gaze fixed on Crouch's face.
He raised his index finger again.
