This one would kill
Moody's wand was pointed at Regulus, its Magic Power fully unleashed, radiating outwards from his body and pressing down on the entire office.
He stood to Crouch's side, his eyes fixed on the raised finger, sharp and ready to respond to the next attack.
The other Auror, still standing, bypassed his fallen colleague and pointed his wand at Regulus from another angle.
His face was grim, but his eyes were filled with shock and anger. His whole body tensed up, and he and Moody flanked Regulus on either side. Both of their Magic Power were gathering and circulating, ready to be released at any moment.
Crouch gripped the edge of the table and finally drew his wand. The lines on his pale face deepened as he clenched his teeth, and he stared fiercely at Regulus, raising his wrist.
Regulus sat calmly, his senses sweeping over the three of them.
The first blow can be painful, and someone who is hit directly can't even control their body, but Crouch still wants to continue.
That's good, he wants to too.
The Magic Power output of the Severing Charm increased, and the level of the second form was raised accordingly. At the same time, the Spatial Warp portal opened, and the exit bypassed the protective Magic and came close to the skin of the three people.
Crouch's amulet under his collar was still active, able to block the spell, but not his spatial manipulation.
Regulus glanced at the two people on the ground out of the corner of his eye.
I took one hit, but that didn't stop me from hitting them a second time; I just considered the extra hits as a gift to them.
The destructive interference around the old man persisted, and the reflected waves were canceled out upon entering the boundary.
Moody stared at Regulus's hand, his stomach still churning. His vision blurred occasionally. He had heard Crouch's words, but he didn't intend to make a move.
The next moment, the space nearby suddenly changed; the space that was empty a moment ago suddenly had an anomaly that was almost touching the skin.
Moody's expression changed drastically. Before he could figure out what the incantation was, his figure blurred briefly and appeared in front of the fireplace. Just as his feet touched the carpet, Regulus's index finger fell.
A second soft sound rang out, and the exit that had been created close to Moody's skin was released in its old position. The attack missed, but the Severing Charm struck his reinforced defenses almost simultaneously.
Moody's foot slipped, his dizziness intensified, the table and cabinet in front of him flipped over in the same direction, but his body tilted in the opposite direction.
He took a step forward, trying to steady himself, but his foot landed slightly off-center, his knee bent heavily, his shoulder swayed, and his hand holding the wand trembled, the tip of the wand grazing past Regulus.
His face instantly turned pale, nausea surged from his abdomen to his throat, his eyes trembled, his expression became ferocious, and a low groan rolled out from his throat.
His protective barrier was repeatedly struck, but he gritted his teeth and channeled his Magic Power into it, finally managing to block most of the attacks. He then raised his wand again.
The touch that was meant to be close to his skin didn't land on him, but the Magic Power from the two rounds still lingered in his body.
The infrasound waves bounced and overlapped repeatedly in the room, and he never truly recovered for a moment.
He had just suppressed the bitter taste in his throat when another surged up. He took two steps, staring at Regulus, his forehead already beaded with sweat.
Regulus was somewhat surprised.
Their reaction was indeed fast; the exit from the Spatial Warp had barely formed when they were already out of there.
The space at Hogwarts was severely compressed, Moody could only move a small section to the outside of the Castle. With one less Anti-Apparition Charm around him, the time it took was enough for him to escape the battlefield.
To kill him in one strike would require quite a bit of effort.
The spatial shift caused by that Sidestep Charm was entirely within Regulus's perception; he could have easily stopped or interrupted it.
If you create Spatial Transfiguration or use Spatial Anchor to fix the surroundings, Moody's methods become useless.
But if that were to actually happen, the situation would escalate completely.
There's no reason to kill anyone at Hogwarts right now, especially not Moody; Moody's ability to evade is a testament to his skill.
On the other hand, if you set the Severing Charm to its deadly level, it's game over if it hits someone; dodging won't help.
A heavy thud came from beside the table, and Crouch's wrist snapped off as he raised his wand.
The amulet was glowing, and the protective Magic was still active, yet the attack that landed directly on the skin had already penetrated the body.
His vision suddenly tilted, and he strained to hold onto the edge of the table, but he couldn't grasp anything; his palm slid down the edge of the table.
His knees gave way, and he collapsed, his shoulders hitting the floor, his arms trapped under his body. His wand was stiffly held by his fingers, utterly useless.
Crouch to pull his hand away, straining his shoulders and back, but his legs kicked to the other side, leaving him feeling completely limp and weak, as if his bones had been broken.
My ears were ringing, and the table legs and stove light were spinning in front of my eyes. I was already lying down, but I still felt like I was falling.
He tried to lift his head, but as soon as he strained his neck, his stomach churned violently, and he choked on a mouthful of bloody saliva. Blood slowly seeped from under his earlobe, and his nose became wet, with blood trickling down his upper lip to the corner of his mouth.
He was panting, his fingers gripping the carpet, but his shoulders couldn't keep up; his upper body lifted slightly off the ground before falling heavily back down.
Regulus's shoe tip was right in front of him.
Crouch raised his eyes, anger still lingering in them, but his face couldn't muster the expression he was expected to have.
His lips twitched, and the muscles in his face twitched in waves. Pain and dizziness completely disrupted his usually serious expression.
Another Auror fell at the same time; his shield was still up, but his arm, which was holding his wand, had fallen with his body.
He stretched out his other hand to support himself on the ground, bending his elbow inward, and slammed his shoulder onto the floor with a dull thud. As his Magic Power lost its stable control, the protective barrier began to dissipate from his shoulder.
His eyes were bloodshot, and blood quickly appeared under his nose. His muscles twitched uncontrollably. He tried to raise his wand, but as soon as his wrist left the ground, his arm fell trembling. He could only manage to squeeze out intermittent breaths from his throat.
He was better than Crouch; at least he could glare at people. His eyes were fixed on Regulus, his face filled with resentment and anger.
Beside the glass case, the Auror who had been kneeling earlier was now in even worse shape. Blood was gushing from his ear canals and nasal cavity, his body was curled up, his abdomen was contracting repeatedly, and he was vomiting bloody acidic water.
The young Auror was in the worst condition; blood seeped from all the holes in his face, his body convulsed violently, his elbows and knees pulled towards his chest and abdomen, then uncontrollably released them.
Regulus looked at the scene before him and was quite satisfied.
Apart from Moody, everyone else who was supposed to fall has fallen. With the defenses breached, the wizard's body can't withstand any more strain. No matter how tightly he grips his wand, he has to be able to lift it up.
Previous Severing Charm couldn't achieve this level of power.
It's either a low-level setting that makes you nauseous, dizzy, uncomfortable, and lose control of your body, or it's a higher level where you turn to ashes; there's no intermediate setting.
Now that Magic Power control is more precise, it can be adjusted up one level from the non-lethal level, turning discomfort into concrete damage.
The nature of lysis causes localized loosening of the connections that maintain the body's integrity; the tissue may still be preserved, but its function begins to malfunction.
Balance and body coordination are disrupted, muscle contractions become uncoordinated, and small tissues are damaged under continuous stress, resulting in bleeding.
The disorder can spread deeper, causing the images seen by the eyes to not match the positions felt by the body, making it difficult to even raise a hand repeatedly, and making it even harder to maintain the concentration required for Spellcasting.
He thought of Baruk again.
The original plan was to use the Severing Charm to loosen the spider's sealed Magic Power structure, then introduce the Natural Magic Power of the Forbidden Forest, and take advantage of the reconstruction to widen the circuit.
The idea was good, but when they tried Gnomes, it turned to ash instantly, and Baruk was so frightened that he squeaked and screamed.
We're closer to that hurdle now, but we still need to climb a little higher. Getting injured is a far cry from maintaining the Magic Power structure and preventing it from collapsing. If it gets even slightly worse, we'll have to replace the spider.
Baruk deserves more effort; these few injured are fine as long as they're not dead.
Regulus snapped out of his thoughts and looked at Crouch.
He finally pulled his arm out from under his body, his hand running along his waist, his fingernails digging into his robe, creating several creases.
The evacuation Magic item was below; Crouch to grasp it, but his fingers slid to the side.
Normally, he wouldn't need to touch it; he could simply send a Magic Power from any part of his body to activate it, and the person could move from the spot.
That won't do. My body is injured like this, my mind is in chaos, my thoughts are disjointed, and my Magic Power is completely out of control.
His thoughts scattered; a complete idea had just begun when he was interrupted by physical discomfort.
Who am I? Where am I? What am I supposed to do?
Waist side, Portkey.
What key?
These ideas didn't align; only a burning anger simmered within him, with nowhere to vent it, yet he couldn't accomplish anything with it.
Another Magic item on my chest suddenly heated up; the monitoring Magic had been triggered.
When severely attacked and rendered incapacitated, and given the conditions are met, a pre-set alarm will be automatically sent out.
He finally grasped a complete idea, and the signal was sent.
Crouch stopped his futile scratching and first tried to calm his rapid breathing.
The twenty or thirty Auror he brought were stationed throughout the Corridor and outside the Castle; those who received the alarm would arrive as pre-arranged.
Moody's is still standing, so there's still room to turn the situation around.
He had anticipated Black's resistance, prepared for the attack, and even considered reasons to mobilize further forces.
He had thought he could still give orders, and at least leave the room under the cover of the props Moody.
He barely managed to lift his eyes, his blurry vision only allowing him to discern which of the two sitting people was Black by their build.
With just two taps, two taps with his fingers, he'd reached this point.
Of the people he brought, besides Moody, the other two were also top-tier Auror, and now only Moody is left standing.
The next attack must be stopped.
Once the others come in, he can take over the operation. He has to submit the report and continue the investigation. He needs to be clear-headed first. If he gets injured, he won't even be able to handle the affairs of the Law Enforcement Department. Crouch tried to continue his thoughts, but his head spun again, and the muscles in his face twitched. Only a vague but strong thought remained: he couldn't let things fall into the hands of others.
Slughorn sat up from his chair, his smile vanishing, and reached for his wand again.
Four people lay collapsed in the office, each in their own miserable state. Blood was flowing from their ears, S.P.E.W. was at the corners of their mouths, and they were convulsing on the ground. The younger one was already motionless.
Barty's face was even more unpleasant to look at; you wanted to get angry, but you couldn't even muster a proper expression.
The old man's brows furrowed deeply as he carefully examined the changes in Crouch's Magic Power.
The traces of Mandrake were still there, but its effects were much stronger than before, and it had already damaged the body.
Barty tried to reach for something at his waist; his facial muscles contorted, his emotions were recognizable, but his gaze was unfocused. He was probably still conscious, but he just couldn't concentrate.
He glanced at the other three people, slowly exhaled, and said, "They can still be cured."
It's a bit tragic, but I won't die. Once the bleeding stops, I can use Potions to relieve my discomfort and recover after some time.
He looked at Regulus.
The child knew what was going on, but he went a little too far.
He glanced at Crouch, who was convulsing on the ground, with a hint of reproach.
Why is Barty being so tough? He clearly took a hit; can't he see that Regulus was holding back?
Crouch tried to prop himself up, but his elbows slid off, his shoulders slammed back down, and his head hit the ground with a thud.
Slughorn kindly said, "Barty, don't move yet."
Even if you listen, you won't suffer less; as for those who don't listen, at least he's already given you advice.
She put on a slightly reluctant expression, pretending not to see Crouch's slowly turning eyes.
Moody's breathing was heavy, sweat beaded on his forehead, and his eyes were clear and fierce. The tip of his cane remained pointed at Regulus. He glanced at Crouch twitching on the ground, but didn't pay any more attention to him or look at him a second time.
He adjusted his stance, drawing even Slughorn's attention. Slughorn stared at Regulus, his voice hoarse and strained as he spoke, "Kid, do you know what you're doing?"
Regulus looked up at him, his expression indifferent, his voice soft. "I know very well, do you?"
Moody's face darkened, and he raised the tip of his cane slightly higher.
Regulus sat calmly, his right hand resting on the armrest, unmoved by his posture.
The thing on Crouch that he couldn't figure out before was now emitting Magic Fluctuation; he understood it was sending out signals.
Perfect, this is exactly what I wanted.
He even waited a little longer before raising his finger, leaving it suspended in mid-air.
The Magic Power model of the Severing Charm re-converged in his consciousness, and the disintegrating nature intensified with its operation. The restrictions retained in the first two rounds were released, and it was switched to the lethal level.
Slughorn's expression changed drastically.
The Magic Power of magic gathering before Regulus's hand had become unfamiliar in nature; the Mandrake could explain its earlier performance, but now it far exceeded that.
He felt the connections that bound flesh and blood together to make him a living person being broken.
Blood should remain in the body, bones support flesh and blood, and life force should flow through them; only through these connections can Potions work.
That Magic Power, however, sought to unravel them all, leaving hardly a single intact person to be healed with the Potions.
The third strike will kill someone; once the Magic spreads again, everyone in the house will be within its range.
He glanced at Moody.
Even Alastor might not be able to escape it.
He looked at Regulus, his expression turning serious.
He didn't know if this was a bluff, a threat, or if he really intended to lay his finger on Crouch and his gang and kill them all.
He wasn't sure, but no matter what, he had to stop it; this was a critical moment.
Moody noticed the change almost simultaneously, his wand pointing firmly at Regulus, the tip of the wand condensing into a cold white light, extremely small in area but extremely bright.
His nostrils flared with each breath, his eyes fixed on the finger Regulus held up in mid-air.
Regulus can sense danger.
The Magic was powerful enough to incapacitate someone, but even at this point, Moody didn't intend to kill him.
He met Moody's gaze, his index finger still hovering above the armrest, his expression indifferent, his eyes devoid of emotion, quietly looking at the pair of gray-blue eyes opposite him.
Slughorn gripped his wand, his hand bracing against the edge of the chair, his voice urgent. "Regulus's office suddenly burst open, and McGonagall strode in, her face stern, her voice laced with suppressed anger: ' Barty Crouch, what are you doing?'"
dare?"
