Background / History
Haimolan led the Havilah Civilization during its war against Human Civilization. When Havilah’s forces suffered a sudden catastrophic reversal near Second Planet, he immediately ordered the planet’s evacuation and the destruction of its industrial facilities rather than pursue an explanation for the enemy weapon. With only days available against an evacuation estimated at three years, he ultimately ordered a full nuclear cleansing, sacrificing the vast majority of Second Planet’s population to deny Human Civilization its people, technology, and infrastructure. 260 262 263
After the cleansing, Haimolan publicly rallied Havilah around revenge and ordered the fleet to assemble against Human Civilization. Havilah’s full mobilization initially inspired confidence, but its production and fleet strength remained unable to match Li Qingsong’s seemingly endless warship reinforcements. Recognizing that continued combat would collapse the civilization, Haimolan ordered a retreat and activated the Calamity Plan. 263 266
The fleeing Havilah Fleet was later cornered by the Black Mountain Civilization, a Machina Calamity fleet. Haimolan correctly inferred that Black Mountain’s true target was Human Civilization, then used Havilah’s threatened collective suicide as leverage to secure negotiations. He proposed an alliance founded on Black Mountain’s immense industrial capacity and Havilah’s surviving soldiers, arguing that the two sides complemented each other perfectly. 281 282
Haimolan negotiated terms that preserved Havilah’s continued existence, accepting a limit of 200,000 warships and a promise of ten billion human captives after Human Civilization’s defeat. Under the alliance, Havilah supplied research talent and manned crews while Black Mountain supplied resources and industrial production. Haimolan oversaw the development of the Variable Energy Shield, designed to counter Human Civilization’s Force Field Weapon. 283 287 289
The alliance captured Planet One, but Li Qingsong’s use of the Electromagnetic Cataclysm devastated the alliance’s planetary core and broke its position. When Black Mountain attempted to bargain separately with Human Civilization, Haimolan also sought negotiations, offering Havilah’s ships, personnel, technology, and assistance against Black Mountain in exchange for permission to leave. Havilah eventually surrendered to Li Qingsong. 298 299 304 306
During interrogation, Haimolan initially remained defiant but cooperated after Li Qingsong offered him a chance to become the Veller Clan’s Deputy Clan Leader. He disclosed information concerning the Recorder Civilization and its records of Human Civilization’s extinction. 309
Appearance
Haimolan is a Havilah person, a race described as tall and thin. He is seen wearing lightweight or portable spacesuits while commanding fleets and attending official duties. 278 294 363
- Tall, thin Havilah build. 294
- Commonly appears in a lightweight spacesuit. 274 363
- Commands from the Honor, Havilah’s flagship composite vessel, during the civilization’s flight. 278
Personality
Haimolan is composed under extreme pressure. During the loss of Second Planet, the encirclement by Black Mountain, and the later pursuit by Purple Moon Civilization, he continues making decisions and addressing subordinates with outward calm even when personally exhausted, grief-stricken, or uncertain. 262 281 283 364
He is highly pragmatic and initially evaluates other civilizations primarily through strategic value, coercion, and the gains they can offer Human Civilization. This mindset causes him to misinterpret Li Qingsong’s treatment of the Green Light Clan and Gravity Beings as part of a hidden scheme. 318 322 328 329
Li Qingsong’s explanation that civilization must retain kindness and mutual assistance changes Haimolan’s outlook. He comes to accept that Human Civilization’s principles are what permit subordinate races to trust it, sincerely accepts his identity as a human, and devotes himself to Human Civilization’s development. 329 330
