Background

Kosuke was present as an infant when Senju ninja ambushed his mother, Uchiha Aoba. During the attack, he perceived the violence around him and showed early signs of Sharingan activation. Aoba protected Kosuke and Mina with Izanagi, losing sight in one eye as a consequence. 2

By age three, Kosuke was already writing and drawing. He possessed an unusual theoretical understanding of chakra, warning Madara, Izuna, and Mina that excessive refinement could damage a developing body by depriving it of the energy needed for growth. 5 6

After Aoba awakened her Mangekyo Sharingan, Kosuke devised a secret plan for her to obtain a deceased relative’s Three Tomoe Sharingan and replace her failing eye. His goal was to help her attain Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan and avoid blindness. 10

At five, Kosuke served alongside Aoba in treating Uchiha casualties during wartime, organizing a children’s medical team and personally treating many wounded clansmen. 13 14

Personality

Kosuke is highly intelligent, calculating, and intensely protective of those he considers family. From childhood, he intervenes in Aoba’s medical decisions, warns Mina against dangerous chakra practices, and worries over Izuna’s survival on the battlefield. 5 10 13 21

He is blunt and often abrasive, particularly toward Madara and Izuna, but his harshness is frequently rooted in fear that their recklessness will get them killed. He demands loyalty to the Uchiha Clan and believes power and status are prerequisites for defying clan orders. 23

As an adult, Kosuke becomes markedly calmer and more politically ambitious. He builds Heavenly Dao in secret, takes control of the Land of Fire’s Daimyo, recruits weakened clans, and treats economic influence, intelligence, military power, and research as interconnected tools. 42 56 57

His pursuit of power can become self-destructive. He repeatedly overworks himself through research and training, alarming Mina and exhausting his shadow clones. 56 82 83 91

Appearance

Kosuke is an Uchiha whose eyes develop from the Sharingan into an unusual self-evolved Mangekyo Sharingan. At age twenty, his earlier playfulness has given way to a composed, controlled bearing. 42

  • His Mangekyo has a black central pupil surrounded by three rotating, flame-like black patterns. 42
  • He wears black armor during battlefield operations. 27
  • His Mangekyo Sharingan emits a bloody crimson light when he is enraged. 47

Chakra Theory and Circulation Research

Kosuke studies chakra formation, physical development, and circulation routes from an unusually young age.

  • Explains chakra as the balanced fusion of Cellular Energy and Mental Energy. 5
  • Warns that over-refinement can consume resources needed for bodily growth and create lasting harm. 5 6
  • Develops the Lesser Heavenly Circulation route, improving chakra precision and reducing loss. 21
  • Identifies its limitation: improved precision may reduce the power and speed of large-scale ninjutsu. 21
  • Provides an optimized Greater Heavenly Circulation map, but its first volunteer, Mizuma, dies after uncontrolled Natural Energy absorption. 22

Medical and Biological Research

Kosuke has practical medical experience and later expands into biological experimentation.

  • Treats wounded Uchiha during wartime and leads a children’s medical team. 13 14
  • Pursues improvements to Sharingan potions using Hashirama tissue. 62
  • Maintains research facilities beneath Heavenly Dao’s infrastructure and studies Hashirama-cell replicas. 55 78
  • Arranges ongoing potion deliveries for the Kaguya Clan after bringing them under his protection. 50

Sealing Techniques

Kosuke seeks Uzumaki sealing knowledge and later works in tandem with Mito.

  • Creates a Symbiotic Curse Seal linking his and Mito’s chakra pathways and lifespans. 27
  • Captures Mito in part to obtain Uzumaki sealing techniques. 27 30

  • Reinforces the Rōran Dragon Vein seal after his cultivation breakthrough. 109

Dust Release

Kosuke develops Dust Release as a Kekkei Tōta combining Earth, Wind, and Fire Release.

  • Demonstrates its decomposition capability to his family. 46
  • Initially struggles to scale his Dust Release Susanoo safely beyond a small construct. 46
  • Later uses Dust Release freely and records its construction principles. 57
  • Integrates Space Attribute Nature into Dust Release through shadow-clone research. 91
  • Uses Dust Release Susanoo to destroy the White Princess’s mountain and snake swarm. 90
  • Limit: The technique consumes immense chakra and leaves him severely weakened. 90

Natural Energy and Primal Cultivation

Kosuke researches Natural Energy despite its risks, ultimately establishing his own cultivation path.

  • Investigates the Tenkei Clan’s Natural Energy-related Kekkei Genkai and obtains its stored knowledge. 87 88
  • Names his system the Primal System and its energy Primordial Qi. 95
  • Enhances the Flowing Water Steps, Fireball, and World Separation Technique with minimal Primordial Qi expenditure. 95
  • Uses his Cultivation Method to replenish Primordial Qi quickly. 95
  • Survives Heart Demon Fire and Lightning Tribulation, using Dragon Vein energy to temper his meridians and forge a Qi Pill. 108 109
  • Develops the Restoration Technique, which appears to restore an injury to its pre-wounded state. 94

Leadership and Strategy

Kosuke commands through planning, force, economic leverage, and intelligence control.

  • Establishes Heavenly Dao, an organization with an intelligence network extending across the Land of Fire and beyond. 42
