Background

Madara is Uchiha Tajima's eldest son and the older brother of Izuna and Mina. As a child, he keeps a Chakra Refinement Scroll on hand and demonstrates the Earth Clone Technique, creating a clone identical to himself. He is also among the small circle entrusted with Kosuke's chakra-circulation research. 7 8

At age eight, Madara is conscripted into the Uchiha-Senju war alongside Izuna and Mina. Wearing vermilion armor, he eagerly embraces the battlefield and becomes amused by Kosuke's description of his habitual “posturing.” 12

After two years of war, Madara and Kosuke gain notoriety as the “Black and Red Twin Evils.” Despite his growing battlefield reputation, Madara's connection to Hashirama becomes a source of strain within the Uchiha: Tajima assigns Kosuke to watch him during their joint reconnaissance mission because of elder concerns over Madara's relationship with the Senju. 22 23

Madara is severely injured when he and Kosuke use a forbidden Lightning Release technique against Hashirama.
