Background / History

Tang Hao lived in seclusion in a mountain valley near Holy Spirit Village, consumed by the prospect of elixirs capable of reviving the dead. He sought them to resurrect his wife Ah Yin and his father Tang Zhen, whom he believed he had angered to death. He also held deep resentment toward Martial Soul Hall for Ah Yin’s death and the damage inflicted on the Clear Sky Sect. 1 10 14

When the Heavenly Screen selected him for transport to the Doupo World, Tang Hao celebrated the chance to pursue resurrection elixirs firsthand. He entered the new world as the third member of his batch, summoning the Clear Sky Hammer and maintaining a defensive stance immediately after arrival. 20 23

Appearance

Tang Hao initially appears as a disheveled, weathered man whose appearance contrasts sharply with his reputation as the Clear Sky Douluo. After consuming alchemical waste, his body and Martial Soul are grotesquely altered. 20 23 24

Personality

Tang Hao is intensely driven by grief, vengeance, and familial devotion. The hope of restoring Ah Yin and Tang Zhen makes him willing to endure public humiliation, physical mutation, and personal disgust for even a chance at greater strength. 1 20 24

Though proud and quick to anger, he can restrain himself when confronted with the unfamiliar dangers of the Doupo World. He initially tolerates a gate guard’s humiliation after recalling the deaths of other powerful Soul Masters, but his confidence returns after his cultivation rises. 23 25

His restraint is ultimately outweighed by hatred toward Martial Soul Hall. After learning Qian Ren Xue’s location, he resolves to seek her out and kill her as revenge for Ah Yin, Tang Zhen, and the Clear Sky Sect. 29 34

Tang Hao eagerly awaits selection, seeing the Doupo World as his opportunity to gain resurrection elixirs, strength, and revenge against Martial Soul Hall. He is selected in the later batch alongside Er Ming, Ma Hong Jun, Yu Yuanzhen, and Qian Ren Xue. 10 20 21

Arrival in Black Rock City

After arriving near Black Rock City, Tang Hao is refused entry because he looks like a vagrant. Remembering how other Soul Masters died after acting recklessly, he suppresses his anger, washes himself in a river, and re-enters the city. 23

He learns from a vendor that Alchemists refine pills, and that legendary pills capable of resurrection may exist in the Central Continent, the Human Emperor Hall, or ancient clans. 23

Medicinal Dregs and Mutation

Tang Hao follows Alchemist Guild guards disposing of failed medicinal residues. Despite the live broadcast and the humiliation involved, he devours the dregs, soaked soil, and waste liquid for Ah Yin and Tang Zhen. 24

The act raises him to Level 99 Limit Douluo and evolves his Clear Sky Hammer, but transforms him into a dark, warty, toad-like figure. Black Rock City residents panic at his appearance and demand that he leave. 24 25

Defeat and Escape from Black Rock City

Believing his new power makes him formidable within a small city, Tang Hao challenges the guards attempting to expel him. His Clear Sky Hammer true body is pierced by the captain’s Sky-Splitting Spear, and he loses his right arm before fleeing. 25 26

Pursuit of Vengeance

After learning that Qian Ren Xue is in the Tagor Desert, Tang Hao vows to locate and kill her in retaliation for Ah Yin, Tang Zhen, and the Clear Sky Sect. His planned attack alarms both Martial Soul Hall and the Clear Sky Sect, whose leaders fear further retaliation. 29

He delays his departure to continue secretly consuming medicinal waste at night. Once his cultivation and Martial Soul cease improving, he prepares to set out for the Tagor Desert. 34
