Kamui Mangekyo in Hand

As one of the most outstanding young ninjas in Konoha, Hatake Kakashi's activities weren't exactly a secret, even though he served in Anbu.

Kakashi's silver hair and Sharingan made it impossible for an Anbu mask to conceal his identity. Wearing one merely showed that he was an Anbu ninja.

And it was easy to find Kakashi's home in Konoha Village.

The Hatake Clan wasn't a prominent family, but the appearance of two genius ninjas, Hatake Sakumo and Hatake Kakashi, had made the small clan well known in Konoha. As a result, Kakashi's home was no secret either.

Night fell over Konoha Village. Uchiha Shūichi, ever quick to act, had already arrived at Hatake Kakashi's home.

After integrating the enhanced White Zetsu Cells, Uchiha Shūichi had gained a little Sensory Ability. Its range wasn't very large, and its precision wasn't high, but it was enough to tell whether there were ninjas inside a building.

Through his Sensory Ability, Uchiha Shūichi detected a Chakra signature inside the building before him that was roughly at Jonin level. It was slightly stronger than the usual Jonin standard, but not by much.

Hatake Kakashi had the strength of an Elite Jonin, and was even close to Kage Level. But his Sharingan held him back, and his Chakra was famously scarce. This Chakra level was right within Uchiha Shūichi's estimate.

Looks like Hatake Kakashi's home. That saves me a few extra trips.

Having made up his mind, Uchiha Shūichi didn't sneak inside. Instead, he casually took out an Anbu mask and put it on.

The sound of knocking echoed through the house. Hatake Kakashi, who had been lying in bed asleep, opened his eyes, wary. He grabbed the Kunai beside his bed, put on his flak jacket, and opened the door.

A ninja wearing an Anbu mask stood outside. Kakashi furrowed his brow slightly, wary.

As a star member of Anbu, Kakashi could recognize almost every Anbu ninja. Anbu's so-called secrecy meant nothing to an Elite Jonin who was himself one of its members.

From nothing more than their movements and habits, Kakashi could identify every Anbu ninja.

He had never seen this supposed Anbu member before. The person definitely wasn't an official member of Anbu.

But Konoha Village's internal affairs were complicated. Besides Anbu, there was also Root.

Although Root's masks differed from Anbu's, Root members often wore Anbu masks, so Kakashi couldn't be certain who the visitor was.

Just as Kakashi hesitated, a glimmer of red light shone from the eyeholes of the visitor's Anbu mask. Kakashi was instantly shocked.

"Sharingan!? Who are you..."

The next second, Kakashi's body shuddered. He stood motionless, staring blankly, and said nothing. A moment later, he came to and naturally led Uchiha Shūichi inside.

Looking at Kakashi, now under Kotoamatsukami's control, Uchiha Shūichi was secretly delighted. He reached into his clothes and took out a Three Tomoe Sharingan.

This ordinary Three Tomoe Sharingan had come from Orochimaru's collection. Who knew which unfortunate soul it had been taken from?

But for anyone without Uchiha blood, a Three Tomoe Sharingan did more harm than good. Orochimaru had treated it as nothing more than an ordinary research specimen.

Now, though, it had become the tool Uchiha Shūichi needed to pull off his switch.

"All right, Kakashi. Give me your Sharingan!"

At Uchiha Shūichi's command, Hatake Kakashi said nothing. He reached up and gouged out the Sharingan in his left eye. A faint green glow emanated from his hand as he stopped the bleeding.

Kakashi had earned the title Copy Ninja, and possessed all seven Chakra natures. He even knew a little medical ninjutsu fueled by Yang Chakra. At the very least, removing his eye didn't cause him much harm.

Hatake Kakashi then took the Three Tomoe Sharingan Uchiha Shūichi handed him and pressed it directly into the socket. Green light flickered, and in moments, the eye transplant was complete.

Afterward, Hatake Kakashi rolled his eyes twice to test them. Everything seemed fine. Uchiha Shūichi could even sense that Kakashi's Chakra had increased a little.

Kakashi's Sharingan had originally belonged to Uchiha Obito. Everyone knew that although it appeared to be a Three Tomoe Sharingan, it was actually a Kamui Mangekyo.

Even when it appeared to be in its Three Tomoe state, it consumed far more Chakra and placed a much heavier burden on the body than an ordinary Three Tomoe Sharingan.

That was why Kakashi's Chakra reserves were unremarkable even among Jonin, despite his strength being close to Kage Level.

An ordinary Jonin would be drained to a husk by a single Mangekyo, let alone maintain strength close to Kage Level.

What made it worse was that Kakashi had received the Mangekyo at just thirteen or fourteen. It had drained him throughout his entire adolescence, the period when his Chakra and physical strength should have grown fastest, directly lowering his physical potential and his Chakra ceiling.

It was like having no good food or proper exercise when your body needed nourishment most, eating nothing but scraps every day, and giving blood every few days on top of that.

The fact that Kakashi hadn't dropped dead on the spot was a testament to his excellent constitution and astonishing potential.

His current Chakra reserves and physical strength were at least half of what they would have been if he'd developed normally.

Now that the Mangekyo had been replaced with a Three Tomoe Sharingan, some of his Chakra had been freed up. But Kakashi was already past adolescence, and his potential had greatly diminished.

But Kakashi's diminished potential had nothing to do with Uchiha Shūichi. Right now, he only wanted to tie up every loose end.

The Kamui Mangekyo was merely a bonus he'd picked up along the way. What mattered most was finding out where Yamato was. Taking advantage of Kakashi being under Kotoamatsukami's control, Uchiha Shūichi asked directly,

"Kakashi, do you know where the Wood Release Ninja Yamato is now?"

Kakashi nodded and replied,

"I do. Yamato is currently in Anbu, directly under the Hokage of Konoha. He lives at XXX, and his main assignment is monitoring the Jinchuriki, Naruto Uzumaki."

Monitoring the Jinchuriki, Naruto Uzumaki? Uchiha Shūichi paused, but quickly understood. It made sense.

As everyone knew, Konoha's only means of controlling a Jinchuriki were the Sharingan and the Wood Release inheritance.

The Sharingan could control a Jinchuriki, but it could also provoke one into a frenzy—or even control one completely. Konoha didn't trust the Uchiha at all, so it had no choice but to turn to a Wood Release Ninja.
