Kamui Mangekyo Acquired

Hatake Kakashi was the most outstanding ninja of Konoha's younger generation. Even though he served in the Anbu, his movements were hardly a secret.

Just his silver hair and single Sharingan meant the so-called Anbu mask couldn't hide his identity at all. Wearing the mask only signified that he was an Anbu operative.

And where Kakashi lived was easy to find in Konoha Village.

The Hatake Clan wasn't some prestigious family, but the emergence of two genius ninjas—Hatake Sakumo and Hatake Kakashi—had made this small clan quite famous in Konoha. Naturally, Kakashi's residence wasn't exactly a hidden location.

Night fell over Konoha Village. Uchiha Shūichi, brimming with initiative, had already arrived at Hatake Kakashi's home.

After integrating enhanced White Zetsu cells, Uchiha Shūichi had gained a bit of sensory ability. The range wasn't large, and the precision wasn't high, but he could at least determine whether there were ninjas inside a building.

In Shūichi's perception, the building before him contained a chakra reaction roughly at the jonin level—slightly above the standard line for a jonin, but not by much.

Although Hatake Kakashi possessed the strength of an elite jonin, even approaching Kage-level, his chakra was notoriously scarce due to the burden of his Sharingan. This level of chakra fell right within Shūichi's estimates.

"It seems Hatake Kakashi is at home. Saves me the trouble of making extra trips."

With a plan in mind, Uchiha Shūichi didn't sneak in. Instead, he casually pulled out an Anbu mask and fastened it over his face.

A knock came at the door. Hatake Kakashi, who had been lying in bed asleep, opened his eyes. Wariness flickered across his face as he grabbed a kunai from beside the bed, slipped on his ninja vest, and opened the door.

Outside stood a ninja wearing an Anbu mask. Kakashi frowned slightly, inwardly on guard.

As a star member of the Anbu, Kakashi could recognize nearly every operative in the organization—the Anbu's so-called secrecy protocols meant nothing to a jonin like him, who was himself an Anbu elite.

From outward movements and habits alone, Kakashi could deduce the identity of any Anbu member.

This so-called Anbu before him—Kakashi had never seen him before. He was definitely not a legitimate Anbu member.

However, the internal situation in Konoha Village was complicated. Besides the Anbu, there was also Root. Although Root's masks differed from the Anbu's, swapping to an Anbu mask was a common practice for Root members, so Kakashi couldn't be sure of the man's identity.

Just as Kakashi hesitated, he saw a faint red light emanate from the eye holes of the Anbu mask. His heart jolted in alarm:

"Sharingan!? Who are you..."

The next second, Kakashi's body trembled. He stood frozen in place, no longer speaking. A moment later, he came to his senses and naturally led Uchiha Shūichi into the room.

Watching Kakashi, now under the control of Kotoamatsukami, Uchiha Shūichi felt a surge of satisfaction. He reached into his robe and pulled out a Three Tomoe Sharingan.

This ordinary Three Tomoe Sharingan had been part of Orochimaru's collection. Who knew which unlucky soul it had been taken from?

For anyone not of Uchiha blood, a Three Tomoe Sharingan brought more harm than good. Orochimaru had only kept it as ordinary research material.

Now, it had become Uchiha Shūichi's tool for a covert swap.

"Alright, Kakashi. Give me your Sharingan."

At Uchiha Shūichi's command, Hatake Kakashi said nothing. He reached up and directly plucked the Sharingan from his left eye socket, a faint green glow emanating from his hand to stop the bleeding.

Having earned the title "Copy Ninja," Kakashi possessed all seven chakra natures. He even knew a bit of medical ninjutsu driven by Yang Release chakra. At least the eye removal hadn't caused him much harm.

Then Hatake Kakashi took the Three Tomoe Sharingan that Uchiha Shūichi handed him and pressed it directly into his eye socket. A green light flickered, and within moments, the eye transplant was complete.

After the swap, Kakashi's eye rotated twice to test it. There were no issues. In fact, Uchiha Shūichi could sense that Kakashi's chakra had increased by a small margin.

Kakashi's original Sharingan had been Uchiha Obito's eye. As everyone knew, that eye appeared to be a Three Tomoe on the surface, but was actually a Kamui Mangekyo.

Even when manifesting as a Three Tomoe, the chakra it drained and the burden it placed on the body far exceeded that of an ordinary Three Tomoe Sharingan.

This was why Kakashi's strength was nearly Kage-level, yet his chakra reserves weren't even outstanding among jonin.

If an ordinary jonin had been given a Mangekyo, it would have drained them dry. Let alone maintaining strength close to Kage-level.

Especially since Kakashi had received this Mangekyo when he was only thirteen or fourteen. His entire adolescence—the period of fastest chakra and physical growth—had been bled dry by that eye. It directly reduced his physical potential and chakra ceiling.

It was like needing the most nutrition during puberty, but instead of eating well and training hard, he was surviving on scraps and donating blood every few days.

That Kakashi hadn't dropped dead on the spot was already a testament to his excellent constitution and astonishing potential.

The chakra and physical condition he now displayed were at least half of what they should have been under normal development.

Even though he had swapped the Mangekyo for a Three Tomoe and freed up some chakra, Kakashi's adolescence was over. His potential had already been greatly diminished.

But Kakashi's diminished potential had nothing to do with Uchiha Shūichi. He only wanted to clean up all loose ends thoroughly.

The Kamui Mangekyo was merely a bonus he'd picked up along the way. The most important thing was to find out where Yamato was. Taking advantage of Kakashi being under Kotoamatsukami's control, Uchiha Shūichi asked directly:

"Kakashi, do you know where the Wood Release ninja Yamato is right now?"

Kakashi nodded and answered:

"I know. Yamato is an Anbu directly under the Hokage. He lives at ×××. His current main task is monitoring the Jinchuriki, Naruto Uzumaki."

Monitoring the Jinchuriki, Naruto Uzumaki? Uchiha Shūichi was momentarily stunned, but quickly recovered. That made perfect sense.

As everyone knew, the only things in Konoha that could restrain a Jinchuriki were the Sharingan and the Wood Release legacy.

The Sharingan could both suppress a Jinchuriki and provoke it into rampage, or even completely control it. Konoha no longer trusted the Uchiha, so naturally, they had to turn to a Wood Release ninja.
