Background and History
The Wu Clan initially lived in separate tribes ruled by Ancestor Witches. Rivalries among the eleven Ancestor Witches prevented any one of them from unifying the clan, though they could cooperate when faced with a stronger opponent. Their tribes hunted other beings across the Primordial Wilderness 70.
The Heavenly Court later conscripted millions of Wu Clan members and suppressed tribes that refused its commands. This pressure pushed the previously hostile Ancestor Witches toward unification. After Di Jun killed Hou Yi and destroyed his tribe, Zhu Jiuyin rallied the Ancestor Witches for war. With Li Xuan’s help, they completed the Twelve Capital Celestial Evil Formation and attacked the Heavenly Court, breaking through its defenses 82 87 88 97 98.
The war shattered the Heavenly Court but cost the Wu Clan hundreds of millions of lives. Its surviving members united and came to dominate the eastern Primordial Era. Over time, the clan recovered, expanded into dozens of large tribes, and increasingly fought the growing Human Race over territory 107 128.
Great Witches eventually declared war on the Human Race. The prolonged conflict reduced the Wu Clan from at least 1.2 billion members across 108 tribes to fewer than 300 million, while its tribes merged into one. Following another major defeat, Chi You and Xing Tian led the renamed Jiuli tribe into a final battle at Zhuolu. Xuanyuan killed Chi You and defeated Xing Tian; only a small number of Wu Clan survivors escaped 133 135 137 138 139.
