Background / History

Di Xin was born as Yin Zishou, the fourth prince of Great Shang and the reincarnation of Huangni Shi. From childhood, he showed abnormal physical strength, intelligence, ambition, and self-discipline. Li Xuan recognized his identity and potential, then accepted him as a disciple after saving him from lethal cold at the North Pole. 152 154 155

He chose Li Xuan's Dao of Strength rather than the other cultivation paths offered to him. His rapid advancement produced a body capable of contending with Golden Immortal-level strength while still a child; by adulthood, he could lift Great Shang's Divine Cauldron of Zhenguo and wrestle thousands of Flood Dragons. 155 156 161

Di Yi ultimately entrusted Yin Zishou's future to Li Xuan. On his deathbed, Di Yi named his youngest son successor and bestowed the name “Di Xin,” after which the Primordial Violet Qi of the Human Emperor entered him. Di Xin immediately recognized the qi as both a source of tremendous power and a shackle on his cultivation. 162 163

Di Xin is portrayed as tall, burly, and imposing, with a mature, heroic bearing after becoming Human Emperor. At his enthronement, he wears formal Human Emperor robes and a nine-bun imperial crown; afterward, he begins growing a beard described as stiff as steel needles. 164 174

He seeks to break the restrictions imposed on the Human Emperor, preserve Great Shang's destiny, and elevate the Human Race above external powers. He is decisive and protective toward those he considers his responsibility. He vows to protect Great Shang's people, personally saves Su Daji from the Nine-tailed Fox, and refuses to let his search for a dream woman become an excuse to disturb or exploit the populace. 163 170 177

Ascension and Border Campaigns

After inheriting the Human Emperor position, Di Xin detects and repels Styx Sect Master's attempt to corrupt him. He then launches campaigns around Great Shang's borders, conquering, dispersing, or eliminating more than a hundred foreign tribes over four to five years. The campaigns strengthen Great Shang and establish his fame, but their expense burdens commoners and worsens feudal-lord discontent. 164 166

Nuwa Temple Tribulation

Pressed by Shang Rong, Di Xin personally offers incense at Nuwa Temple. Nuwa reveals her true appearance, freezes time and space, and implants a false memory of ten thousand years spent with her. Di Xin responds by carving a poem expressing desire for Nuwa, later telling Li Xuan that he did so deliberately as an “act” to answer the tribulation. 167 168 169

Search for Su Daji

Haunted by the woman from his implanted memory, Di Xin commissions Fei Zhong and You Hun to search discreetly for her, explicitly forbidding them from disturbing the people, extorting locals, or abusing the order. When Su Daji is identified, he approaches Su Hu directly and promises that he will not use force if she rejects him. 170 172 173

Prevention of Su Daji's Possession

The Nine-tailed Fox attempts to possess Su Daji during the wedding period. Di Xin arrives in time, captures the fox's primordial spirit, and brings her to Li Xuan for an explanation. Once he learns that Nuwa sent the demon to bewitch him and destroy Great Shang's court, he imprisons the fox in a bottle instead of killing her. 175 177 178 179

Conflict with Yun Zhongzi

Yun Zhongzi enters Di Xin's court claiming demons infest the palace, but his Demon Slaying Sword, Demon Suppressing Talisman, and Demon Subduing Mirror are intended to create disorder. Di Xin sees through the scheme, is injured by the mirror, then retaliates with the Sea-Calming Bead and orders Yun Zhongzi executed. Yuan Shi Tianzun arrives too late to save his disciple and vows future vengeance. 180 182
