Su Yu did not look at him. He turned and picked Ning Rongrong up, then looked toward Flender in the distance and called out loudly:
"Dean Flender, with Rongrong's performance, she should have passed the assessment, right?"
Nestled in Su Yu's arms, Ning Rongrong's cheeks were slightly flushed. Her breathing had yet to settle from the fierce battle, but she quietly let out a sigh of relief.
Flender stroked his chin, a smile playing on his lips as he said loudly:
"Of course she passed! Ning Rongrong fully meets Shrek Academy's standards! From this moment onward, Ning Rongrong is an official student of Shrek Academy!"
Flender turned to Dai Mubai beside him and said in a deep voice:
"Little Bai, take our new students to their dormitories!"
Xiao Wu, Ning Rongrong, and Zhu Qing, the three girls, shared one dormitory.
Tang San and Oscar shared a dormitory, Dai Mubai and Ma Hongjun shared another, while Su Yu had a dormitory to himself.
Inside the Shrek Academy freshmen's dormitory—
Su Yu gently placed Ning Rongrong on the bed, the brocade quilt sinking slightly beneath her weight.
Yet Ning Rongrong did not release her arms from around his neck. Instead, she tilted her head up slightly, her warm breath brushing against his ear as she spoke in a soft, delighted voice:
"Older Brother, how was it? Rongrong did pretty well today, didn't she?"
Su Yu smiled helplessly and gently removed her arms from around his neck.
He reached out and lightly tapped the tip of her delicate nose, his tone full of indulgence.
"Rongrong did wonderfully today. You were even more impressive than I expected."
The tap made Ning Rongrong's nose itch slightly, and she could not help shrinking her neck. A proud smile spread across her face, her eyes sparkling as though two stars were hidden within them.
"Of course. Just look whose little sister I am."
As she spoke, she shifted farther into the bed and patted the spot beside her.
"Older Brother, sit down for a while too. The move you used against Teacher Zhao today was amazing. I was completely stunned."
"Teacher Zhao is a Soul Saint, after all. The gap between a Soul Saint and a Soul Ancestor is a chasm that is difficult to cross."
"Today, he was mostly testing me. He did not truly regard me as an opponent. Otherwise, why would he have given me so many opportunities?"
As he spoke, his gaze fell behind Ning Rongrong, and his tone gained a note of concern.
"Alright, don't think about that anymore. Your back hit the wall earlier. Let me see if you were injured."
Ning Rongrong obediently murmured, "Mm," then turned around. Carefully untying the sash at her waist, she slipped off her outer garment and revealed her slender back.
Her skin was fair as jade, but near her lower back, close to her shoulder blade, there was a patch of bluish-purple bruising, clearly left behind by the impact earlier.
The moment Su Yu's fingertips touched the bruise, Ning Rongrong could not help sucking in a breath. The faint pain made her back tremble slightly.
"Did I hurt you?"
Su Yu immediately eased his strength, his fingers hovering in midair as he spoke apologetically.
"I'll be gentler."
Ning Rongrong bit her lower lip. That touch had indeed hurt a little, but more than that, she was sensitive to the sudden contact.
She shook her head, her voice muffled. "It's fine. It was just... a little itchy."
Seeing Ning Rongrong stubbornly putting on a brave face, Su Yu gently pressed his fingers against her back.
"Ah! Older Brother, you're bullying me!"
Su Yu chuckled at that, but his fingertips loosened their pressure and began gently massaging the bruise instead, his tone carrying a trace of teasing.
"Who told you to act tough? If you know it hurts, then stop forcing yourself to endure it."
Ning Rongrong huffed but did not argue further. She merely buried her face in the pillow and muttered:
"It didn't hurt in the first place..."
Though she said that, her tense shoulders completely relaxed, and even her breathing became steadier.
"It's a little swollen, but thankfully the bone wasn't injured." Su Yu breathed a sigh of relief, his movements becoming even gentler.
"I'll massage it for you. It'll go down in a couple of days."
Ning Rongrong lay on the pillow, looking at him from the side, a faint curve forming at the corner of her lips.
"Older Brother is the best."
Su Yu shook his head helplessly. His hands grew gentler as he massaged her, and he said at the same time:
"Don't be so impulsive next time. The assessment is important, but your body is even more important."
Ning Rongrong did not respond. After a while, though, she muttered:
"Got it. Older Brother is so annoying..."
There was a barely noticeable softness in her trailing voice; clearly, she had taken his words to heart.
Su Yu took a small jade bottle from his Soul Tool. When he pulled out the stopper, a crisp medicinal fragrance instantly spread through the room.
He dipped a little ointment onto his fingertips and gently applied it to the bruise on Ning Rongrong's back.
The instant the ointment touched her skin, it turned into slightly cool droplets that seeped into her flesh with a faint refreshing sensation.
"This was blended with Ice Spirit Grass and Muscle Condensing Flower. It can disperse bruising and make the marks fade faster."
He spoke softly as his fingertips gently massaged in circles, applying just the right amount of pressure while avoiding the most painful areas.
Ning Rongrong was tense at first, but when she felt the ointment's coolness and his gentle movements, she let out a soft, contented moan.
"Older brother, you're the best! Thank you, older brother!"
Outside the dormitory, Xiao Wu and Zhu Qing listened to the sounds coming from within and could not help but blush.
Not long after, Su Yu walked out of the dormitory.
"Xiao Wu, Zhu Qing, what's wrong with you two?"
Seeing their flushed faces, Su Yu asked in confusion.
"N-Nothing! We're going back to the dormitory first!"
Xiao Wu and Zhu Qing ran into the dormitory with red faces.
Su Yu truly did not understand, but he did not ask further and headed toward his own dormitory.
After returning to his dormitory, Su Yu began a mysterious conversation with the system!
"System, do I have any sign-in rewards?"
"Ding! The Host has successfully established contact with Li Yusong. Sign-in with Li Yusong successful. Reward: two thirty-thousand-year Arm Soul Bones (capable of generating the most suitable Soul Bone Skills according to the Martial Soul)!"
"Ding! The Host has successfully established contact with Zhao Wuji. Sign-in with Zhao Wuji successful. Reward: one fifty-thousand-year Purple Winged Demon Light Spider Torso Soul Bone!"
"Ding! The Host has successfully established contact with Flender. Sign-in with Flender successful. Reward: one Immortal Herb Dragon Fire Flame Fruit (can evolve the Fire Dragon Martial Soul)."
Time passed second by second.
Yet Su Yu still had not heard any notification of a successful sign-in with Zhu Qing, Xiao Wu, or the others.
"Hey, System, is something wrong with you? Why didn't I successfully sign in with Xiao Wu, Zhu Qing, and the others?"
"Ding! Host, there is no error in the system. Sign-in targets are categorized."
"Zhao Wuji, Li Yusong, and Flender can only be considered Level Two sign-ins. As long as ordinary contact is established, the sign-in can succeed."
"Ning Rongrong, Sword Douluo, and Bone Douluo are all Level One sign-ins. You must establish a certain relationship with them before the sign-in can succeed."
"For example, Ning Rongrong previously established a sibling connection with you and sees you as her older brother, which is why you could successfully sign in with her."
"Sword Douluo has a master-disciple relationship with you. Bone Douluo sees you as his granddaughter's husband, while Ning Fengzhi considers you his son-in-law. Only then could you successfully sign in with them!"
