Background / History

Tongtian accepted Lin Changqing as his disciple a million years before the events at Kunlun Mountain. Though Lin remained unable to reach the Golden Immortal realm, Tongtian valued his temperament over his poor Houtian origins and continued supplying him with resources to improve his foundation. 1 4

When Primordial Heavenly Lord mocked Lin and criticized the Sect of Interception for accepting disciples of weak origins, Tongtian openly defended his disciple. He offered Lin a Nine Revolutions Golden Elixir—an irreplaceable pill originally refined by Taishang—despite the objections and envy of the Sect of Elucidation. 1

After Lin gave the elixir to Yunxiao and received ten billion merit in return, Tongtian celebrated the event as proof of his eldest disciple's worth. He came to regard Lin's immense merit and potential as a source of protection and future fortune for the Sect of Interception. 2 4

Before Lin descended Kunlun Mountain, Tongtian bestowed the Heart-Piercing Lock and a sword talisman containing one strike of Saintly power. Personality

Tongtian is fiercely protective of his disciples, especially Lin Changqing, whom he repeatedly calls his beloved or most favored disciple. He is willing to confront Saints, threaten sects, and commit the Immortal Slaying Sword Formation to protect Lin from perceived harm. 21 23 133

He values character and opportunity over lineage. Tongtian initially accepted Lin despite his Houtian origins and later welcomed the sentient beings awakened by the reopening of the Sect of Interception's mountain gate as disciples rather than rejecting them for their origins. 1 158

Though quick to anger when his sect is insulted, Tongtian can be pragmatic and even playful. He used Lin's apparent grave injury to pressure Yuanshi into surrendering a Nine Revolutions Golden Elixir, then calmly ended the conflict once the benefit had been secured. 23 25
