Background / History
Taiyi co-rules the Demon Race Heavenly Court with Di Jun. Early in the story, the two detect unusual Demon Race auras near Kunlun and begin investigating the anomalous courtyard connected to Kunpeng. Their efforts help persuade Kunpeng to accept the position of Demon Master, though Kunpeng refuses to be restrained by the Heavenly Court. 1 6
After receiving Gui Che's intelligence that the Three Pure Ones, Zhen Yuanzi, and Hongyun had all visited Kunpeng's dojo, Taiyi concludes that the apparently ordinary lifeform in the courtyard must be connected to an immense secret. He and Di Jun then visit Kunpeng to formally bestow his title, but their grand arrival provokes Kunpeng's anger. 26
Taiyi attempts to recruit Kunpeng, Kong Xuan, Bai Hu, the Jade Qilin, and their allies by offering high Heavenly Court offices and eventual support for sainthood. They reject him due to their loyalty to Jiang Ping. During the confrontation, Taiyi and Di Jun are overwhelmed by several Quasi-Saint-level defenders and are forced into the courtyard. 27 28
After witnessing the courtyard's spiritual resources and Jiang Ping's unusual treatment of them, Taiyi changes strategy. Rather than antagonizing its inhabitants, he seeks to establish a relationship with the “Peerless Expert” and use the courtyard's opportunities to strengthen the Demon Race. 31 32
Appearance
Taiyi can appear in the form of a three-legged bird, which Jiang Ping mistakes for a small “three-legged chicken.” 29
- A Three-legged Golden Crow sensitive to the aura of his own kind. 1
- When reduced to bird form, he retains three legs and can be physically handled by Jiang Ping. 29 30
- In battle, he manifests as an imposing cultivator capable of projecting immense pressure through the Chaos Bell. 135 217
Personality
Taiyi is ambitious, calculating, and deeply invested in the Demon Race's future. He views unifying the Primordial Era's races and earning Heavenly Dao Merit as the path by which he and Di Jun can prove their Dao. He is willing to recruit powerful allies, develop the Heavenly Court's resources, and prepare for eventual conflict with the Witch Clan. 27 116 165
He is also cautious around Jiang Ping and the courtyard. Taiyi repeatedly recognizes that its secrets exceed his understanding, from its apparent isolation from the outside world to the Dao Rhymes contained in its calligraphy, food, and tools. 64 67 171 172
Despite his ambition, Taiyi enforces discipline within his family. When the ten Golden Crows cause widespread harm after leaving the Sun Star, he publicly condemns them and imposes eight thousand years of confinement, while Di Jun receives three thousand years of self-imposed confinement. 217
Abilities & Skills
Chaos Bell
Taiyi wields the Chaos Bell, also called the Eastern Emperor Bell, as his foremost Spirit Treasure. 27 135
- Summons it above his head to block Kunpeng's pressure. 27
- Can enlarge it to mountain size and use it to strike Spirit Mountain directly. 135
- Its sound and projected image can halt an imminent clash between Kuafu and the ten Golden Crows. 217
- Kong Xuan's Five-Colored Radiance can dim the bell's brilliance and destabilize it. 27
- The bell's direct assault fails to breach Spirit Mountain's defensive array. 135
Physical Strength
Taiyi possesses formidable physical power even without relying on a weapon's special effects.
- Strikes a massive crack into a giant stone with a hammer through his own strength. 77
- The impact leaves his arms numb and injures him internally due to the force transmitted back through the tool. 77
Imperial Insight
Taiyi has exceptional discernment for imperial ambition and authority.
- Immediately focuses on Jiang Ping's Qinyuan Chun calligraphy rather than competing to absorb ambient Dao Rhymes. 171
- Interprets “wanting to test their height against the heavens” as an aspiration to contend with the Heavenly Dao. 171
- Identifies the work as containing the Emperor's Dao and envisions the possibility of becoming a Saint Emperor or Immortal Emperor. 171
Political and Strategic Leadership
Taiyi helps direct the Heavenly Court's long-term development.
- Uses Gui Che's reconnaissance to monitor Kunpeng's dojo and the movements of powerful cultivators. 26
- Plans to bring talented low-level demons to Jiang Ping's courtyard so its spiritual roots and Primordial Spirit Spring can accelerate their transformations. 32
- Oversees the Demon Race's response when Jiang Ping is believed to have been taken by the Western Daoists. 131
- Recognizes that the Witch Clan's strength and incomplete Nascent Souls make them both a threat and a barrier to the Demon Race's plans for enlightenment. 165
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Chaos Bell / Eastern Emperor Bell — Taiyi's principal Spirit Treasure; used for defense, suppression, and direct assault. 27 135 217
- Time Reversal Pearl — Receives and activates one to review recorded events at Jiang Ping's courtyard. 131
- Hammer from Jiang Ping's construction tools — Tests it personally but cannot draw out any special function attributed to the Witch Clan's use of the tools. 77
Relationships
- Di Jun — Co-ruler of the Heavenly Court and Taiyi's closest political partner; they jointly recruit Kunpeng, build Demon Race strength, confront Spirit Mountain, and pursue their Dao through Heavenly Court Merit. 26 31 135 165
- Jiang Ping — Taiyi regards him as an unfathomable “Peerless Expert” living as an ordinary being; Taiyi seeks his favor while carefully avoiding disruption of his plans. 31 64 171

- Gui Che — Spy and Demon Race subordinate who reports on the visitors and events surrounding Kunpeng's dojo. 26 59
- Houtu and the Witch Clan — Political rivals whose growing resourcefulness and strength frustrate Taiyi; he later negotiates with them over the conflict between the Witch and Demon races. 77 165 172
- Ten Golden Crows — Taiyi's nephews; they fear his authority, and he sentences them to eight thousand years of confinement after their destructive actions. 217
- Zhunti and Jieyin — Western Daoists whom Taiyi holds responsible for provoking Jiang Ping and taking the palaces built for him; he joins the campaign against Spirit Mountain. 131 135
Story Role / Major Arcs
Recruitment of Kunpeng
Taiyi and Di Jun recruit Kunpeng as Demon Master, believing his inclusion will greatly strengthen the Heavenly Court. Their subsequent attempts to recruit Kunpeng's fellow courtyard residents fail and result in Taiyi being defeated and forced into Jiang Ping's courtyard. 6 27 28
Courtyard Resource Initiative
After experiencing the courtyard's spiritual food and recognizing the value of its spiritual roots, Taiyi develops a plan to improve the Demon Race's younger generation. The resulting transformations of Golden Eagle, Purple Cloud Swallow, Flame Crow, and Serpent Vulture youths confirm the value of the opportunity. 32 33
Conflict with the Western Sect
When Jiang Ping disappears and the Western Daoists are suspected of taking him, Taiyi investigates with Di Jun and mobilizes the Demon Race against Spirit Mountain. He personally uses the Chaos Bell in the initial assault, then judges that Spirit Mountain's layered array would require Saint-level force—or the combined attack of ten late-stage Quasi-Saints—to breach quickly. 131 135
Witch–Demon Rivalry
Taiyi and Di Jun pursue Heavenly Court expansion and consider war with the Witch Clan inevitable, believing it necessary to prove their Dao. Taiyi rejects the Witch Clan's demand that the Heavenly Court be disbanded during later negotiations. 165 172
Emperor's Dao and Heavenly Court Development
Taiyi gains insight from Jiang Ping's calligraphy, studies practical skills such as farming alongside Di Jun, and presents acquired spiritual-root cultivation methods to the Ten Great Demon Sages as a new benefit for the Heavenly Court. 171 184 185
Punishment of the Ten Golden Crows
Taiyi intervenes through the Chaos Bell when the ten Golden Crows' actions threaten to escalate into a battle with Kuafu. He holds both Di Jun and the Golden Crows accountable for the devastation they caused. 217
Notable Quotes
“Since you know your crime, why are you still lingering here? Do you know how much bloodshed you have caused on this trip? How much karma have you accumulated?” 217
“Today, the Heavenly Emperor is incompetent in raising his children and has gone into self-imposed confinement for three thousand years! As for these ten Golden Crows, they are punished with confinement to the Sun Star for eight thousand years!” 217
