Background / History

Zhunti arrived late to Hongjun's sermon with Jieyin and found that all cushioned seats had been taken. He insulted Kunpeng during their attempt to claim a seat, contributing to Kunpeng's removal and creating a lasting grudge between them. He and Jieyin also provoked Dijun and Donghuang Taiyi, escalating tensions at Purple Cloud Palace. 51

Together with Jieyin, Zhunti later sought favor from Qin Yun by building a temple and offering incense. Qin Yun gave Zhunti the Origin of the Great Dao Law of Appearance, the Origin of the Great Dao of Artifacts, a ton of Three Lights Divine Water, and two Ren Water Flat Peaches. The Artifact Dao Origin was given in recognition of Zhunti's talent for artifact refinement. 88 89

After Hongyun founded the Great Vehicle Teaching, Zhunti and Jieyin became anxious about being left behind. Having reached the Sub-Saint realm, they established the Western Teaching and received Heavenly Dao Merit, eventually becoming Saints. 267 268 270

Despite Qin Yun's earlier generosity, Zhunti and Jieyin later confronted him on Fangzhang Immortal Island with arrogance and hostility. Zhunti failed to destroy the island's protection array with the Seven Treasures Wonderful Tree, had his Saint's pressure shattered, and was injured when Qin Yun reflected his force back at him. When the two Saints attacked together, Qin Yun combined and returned their attacks, forcing them to retreat in disgrace. 273 276

Personality

Zhunti is ambitious, calculating, and highly concerned with expanding the Western Teaching. He consistently looks for opportunities to obtain treasures, disciples, influence, and cultivation resources, whether by pressuring rivals, demanding concessions, or attempting to recruit vulnerable members of other factions. 72 214 437 452

He is also prideful and quick-tempered. Zhunti reacts bitterly to humiliation, particularly his defeats or rebukes by Qin Yun, the Twelve Ancestral Witches, and disciples of the Sect of Interception. 273 307 437 439

In conflicts, Zhunti can be pragmatic. After defeating Yuanshi, he and Jieyin chose to withdraw rather than risk a confrontation with Taiqing Laozi or Tongtian. 431
