In the pitch-black world, the Mammoth rumbled forward. Its massive engine roared through the silent wasteland, but... there was nothing.
"To be honest, this is the first time I've seen a world this desolate."
Looking at the scenery outside the window, Duanmu Huai couldn't help sighing with emotion. The others nodded as well.
It wasn't as if they had never visited apocalyptic worlds before. There had been War Planet, Skynet Planet, Guardian Planet, and that strange zombie world.
Strictly speaking, however, it was almost always only humanity that faced extinction in those worlds. The other animals and plants still flourished.
Even in the Demon World, where the gateway to Hell on Mars had opened and demons had slaughtered nearly everything, there were still plants and other forms of life.
Vines climbed over ruined skyscrapers, emerald grass covered the ground, and beasts wandered through the ruins...
At the very least, those things still counted as life. There simply weren't any humans left.
But this place was completely different.
Whether it was because the clouds had completely blocked out the sunlight or because that ancient war had truly caused some kind of disaster, the entire land was utterly dead.
There wasn't the slightest sign of life anywhere. Animals, plants, nothing.
As for the ruins of the cities, thousands of years of weathering had already reduced most of them to rubble. If one could still make out a foundation, that was considered good construction.
"To be honest, are you really planning to come back to this world? Why not listen to me and find another planet?"
