Background / History

Sakura begins as a member of Kakashi Hatake's Team 7 alongside Sasuke Uchiha and Naruto Uzumaki. She is openly infatuated with Sasuke, readily defending him from Naruto's criticism and eagerly seeking his attention. During the bell exercise, however, she joins Naruto in rejecting a pass gained by abandoning a teammate, helping Team 7 clear Kakashi's assessment through cooperation. 3 5

Her early training exposes the gap between her and her teammates. Kakashi tells her that her current chakra level is not suited to standard ninjutsu, but recognizes the precision of her chakra control and teaches her Water Release: Water Fang Bullet instead. Sakura completes the technique, earns a role guarding Tazuna with Sasuke, and begins treating strength as the way to become the kind of person Sasuke respects. 20 21
