The Thousand-Person Consciousness Was Forcibly Overwritten: They Weren't Even Allowed Peace in Death
The Light Screen went dark. This time, not even a stray fleck of light remained. It was as though the last sound had been drained from the Divine Realm. All that remained was the string drawn tighter and tighter in each person's heart, trembling faintly in the dark.
Xue Ye slowly rose. His back looked much older than before. Gazing toward where the Light Screen had vanished, he said quietly, "He thinks that if he turns everyone into numbers, he can calculate fate. But what fate hates most is having someone like him work out the answer."
With that, he turned and left. The others stayed where they were. No one moved.
After Xue Ye left, the outline of the darkened screen still lingered in everyone's eyes. But the Light Screen had not truly fallen silent. An invisible hand seemed to stir it again, drawing a colder metallic sheen out of the darkness.
On the screen, dense ranks of silver figures stood in sealed chambers that stretched beyond sight. Every body was identical: blond hair, closed eyes, a peaceful face. Like countless Ottos frozen in place, they stood quietly in hidden corners across the world.
"What is this..." Xiao Xiao's voice caught in her throat.
"Soul Steel Bodies," Huo Yuhao said slowly. "Not clones or illusions. Bodies forged from soul steel, tuned to Otto's consciousness. Each one is empty, but each one is connected to the same soul."
"How many more of those things does he have?" Tai Tan asked gruffly, his fists clenching without him noticing.
"They're all over the world," Huo Yuhao said. "One might be beneath this city, another in the ruins of a city swallowed by Honkai. As long as even one remains, his consciousness won't truly die."
"He made himself impossible to kill in this
