Background

Otto Apocalypse created Kiana under the designation K423, combining Sirin’s genes with Cecilia’s maternal love to produce a vessel capable of carrying Herrscher power. After she emerged from her cultivation chamber, Otto gave her the name “Kiana Kaslana” and instructed her to live in the original Kiana’s place. 408 440

The original Kiana Kaslana survived the Second Honkai Eruption. Otto later arranged for her to lose her memories and raised her as Durandal, Schicksal’s strongest Valkyrie. Thus, both girls bearing the name Kiana became pieces in Otto’s designs. 409 441

K423’s apparently ordinary life was also planned. Otto directed her to meet Mei and Bronya, attend St. Freya Academy, and form attachments that would make her human enough to become useful; Fu Hua was placed beside her as a monitor. 441 442 Otto’s ultimate objective was to cultivate Kiana into a living key capable of bearing multiple Herrscher Authorities, crossing the Imaginary Barrier, and reaching the World Line where Kallen Kaslana could be restored. 527 636 638

When Kiana discovers her origin, she is left questioning her identity: “Who... am I?” 409 Her struggle thereafter is not only against Honkai and Herrschers, but against the role Otto wrote for her as an expendable experiment.

When urged to abandon Sky Vault City, she refuses because its remaining civilians still need hope, choosing to face the Honkai Energy Fission Reactor despite the cost to her own life. 463 Her trauma leaves her distant and convinced that she no longer has a home, yet it does not erase her willingness to save even enemies such as Rita. 462

Kiana’s mature strength lies in acknowledging suffering without allowing it to justify further harm. She defeats the Thousand Herrschers by recognizing its pain, affirming the reality of beauty and connection, and choosing redemption over destruction. 510 512
