Background / History

Hu Yan Lan Ruo is the only direct-line heir of the Hu Yan Family, one of the Seven Great Noble Families. Raised as the family’s future leader and heavily indulged by both her father, Hu Yan Xiong, and grandfather, Hu Yanba, she developed a reputation for being unreasonable and difficult to offend. 4 7 104

Her first conflict with Xian Wu began when Dog King, her giant mastiff mount, nearly struck a child. Xian Wu used Complete Disintegration to destroy the dog, prompting Lan Ruo to confront him in the male dormitory. There, she used the Snow Cherry Spirit’s Art of Charm to learn that his left hand had dismantled Dog King into atoms. 5 7

Still angered by Dog King’s death, Lan Ruo marked the unconscious Xian Wu with a demon-blood tattoo called “Dog King’s Revenge” and tested his left hand with a bone from her deceased pet. She later charmed and publicly humiliated him, ordering him to stand beneath a tree until the technique wore off. 8 12

Their hostility escalated when Lan Ruo attacked Xian Wu with Soul Whip at the Alchemist Guild. His Chaos Spirit Devouring Art drained her Sea of Soul completely, leaving her unconscious. After Gu Yan mediated the dispute, Lan Ruo refused to apologize but did not expose Xian Wu’s ability; her family instead provided compensation. 54 55
