Rank System

Spirit Masters have five Soul Force ranks, each divided into five star levels. The following values mark the first star of each rank. 18

Cultivation and Recovery

• Soul Force is cultivated through techniques that absorb and convert external essence, such as the Seven Star Divine Curse, which converts moonlight essence into Soul Force. 27
• Ordinary Spirit Masters principally cultivate their Soul Force capacity; depleted Soul Force recovers naturally and can recover faster when a cultivation technique is circulated. 46
• Lower-level Spirit Masters recover Soul Force more slowly after it has been drained, potentially requiring days and nights for full recovery. 53
• Pills can increase or restore Soul Force for many cultivators, including Soul Nurturing Pills for Silver rank, Soul Condensing Pills for Gold rank, and Soul Tempering Pills for Black Gold rank. 57 154

Soul Sea Capacity

Soul Force is stored in the Sea of Soul, whose capacity limits how much Soul Force can be safely contained. 41 46

• Exceeding a Soul Sea's tolerance causes Soul Force to overflow and temper the body, strengthening muscles and physical power. 41
• If bodily strengthening also reaches its limit, the cultivator can explode and die. 41
• A sudden surge up to twice a Sea of Soul's capacity is stated to be safe and can aid cultivation; greater excess risks damaging the Sea of Soul. 208

Combat Applications

Spirit Master Techniques

Before Silver rank, Bronze Spirit Masters have only one direct offensive use for Soul Force: blasting it into an opponent's Soul Sea to cause an explosion. 12

After fusing with a Demonic Spirit at Silver rank, a Spirit Master can spend Soul Force to activate that spirit's innate abilities. 12

• Wind Snow Demonic Spirits can create wind and snow. 12
• Flame Demonic Spirits can create and control fire. 12
• Berserk Demonic Spirits grant berserker battle skills. 12
• Fused water-, wind snow-, and fire-attribute Demonic Spirits can convert Soul Force into their respective elements. 151

Martial Skills

Warriors also consume Soul Force when using Martial Skills, though their reserves are generally limited. Warriors with especially strong Soul Force commonly become Spirit Masters instead. 22

• Martial Skills are powerful finishing moves rather than ordinary combat techniques. 22

Soul-Based Defense and Formations

• Soul Barrier creates a two-meter-radius defensive domain. At the documented level, it consumes 10,000 Soul Force per second and withstands Gold Peak soul attacks. 131
• The Dragon Gate Formation combines its members' Soul Force, using Ye Shuo as its core to raise the group to peak Black Gold strength. 128
• The Energy Gathering Array temporarily gathers teammates' Soul Force for one user, enlarging the recipient while shrinking contributors; remaining energy returns after three minutes. 230
• Soul Force attacks can damage phased targets because their body parts remain connected by Soul Force even while physical attacks pass through them. 128

Absorption and Depletion

The Chaos Spirit Devouring Art is an atypical cultivation method associated with Xian Wu's Chaos-attribute, black-hole-form Soul Sea. It advances through devouring rather than ordinary active cultivation. 41

• Devouring Demonic Spirits expands Xian Wu's Soul Sea capacity: one Bronze spirit raises it to 999, while two Silver spirits raise it to 9,999. 41
• The technique can drain another Spirit Master's Soul Force even if the target seals their Soul Sea. 41 133
• Its absorption accelerates exponentially after activation. 109

Relationship to Law Power

Soul Force alone cannot carry a cultivator into the Heavenly Fate realm. That breakthrough requires Law Power and leads toward becoming a Spirit God. 343

• Law Power or Heavenly Dao Power has vastly greater value than Soul Force: one unit is equivalent to ten million Soul Force for synthesis purposes. 354
• Divine Sparks are necessary for becoming a god, while Law Power must be controlled to pursue that path. 310
