"Alfred, was my way really wrong?"
Bruce Wayne couldn't help asking his butler, Alfred.
Alfred had been serving as his butler since before he was born.
He had been by Bruce Wayne's side for decades.
He was less a butler than an elder.
Whenever Bruce Wayne felt lost, he would ask Alfred for advice, hoping to find an answer.
"Young Master Wayne, there's more than one way to save this city. But shouldn't you get some rest?"
"You've been awake for nearly twenty-four hours, and you were injured just a few days ago."
Alfred felt that Gotham had already demanded far too much of Bruce.
Whenever Gotham was threatened, Bruce would focus all his attention on it, treating the city's safety as his highest priority.
And whenever Gotham was hurt... he always saw it as his own failure.
But now Gotham had another Batman, and this Batman seemed to have found the root of the city's problems.
"I can keep going, Alfred."
Although Bruce Wayne was injured and exhausted, his mind was still active, thinking about the future of Gotham.
He had once thought that everyone in a gang had chosen to sink into depravity.
But Bai Lang had made him realize the truth.
If they could get an honest job and support themselves, who would risk prison or death to join a gang?
At first, Bruce Wayne hadn't believed Bai Lang's description of the gangs as being like refugee camps.
Until he reviewed the surveillance footage and saw what the abandoned shell of Building Three had been like.
The place had been taken over by a gang called Night Crow.
That gang was almost exactly like the homeless encampments in most American cities.
It was less a gang than a group of people at the bottom of society who
