Background / History

Da Xue was seventeen when Su Yuntian first met her in Nuoding City. She had served Xue Qinghe for nearly ten years and was three years older than the prince. After Xue Qinghe brought the unconscious Su Yuntian back, Da Xue cared for him for more than a day and explained that he had been found by the roadside. 10

She travelled with Xue Qinghe's entourage to Heaven Dou City, often sharing the carriage with Su Yuntian. During the journey and afterward, she frequently fell asleep—calling it her “beauty sleep”—including while attempting to play chess with him. 11

Da Xue became close to Su Yuntian after his arrival at the imperial palace. She gave him practical advice about selecting a Soul Beast, helped him test the storage uses of the Gate of Babylon, and took him along on shopping trips so he could store her purchases. 12 15

After Xue Qinghe became Crown Prince, Da Xue rose to chief steward of the Crown Prince's Mansion. She ceased personally handling every household task, but continued cooking for Su Yuntian and later directed servants preparing for the New Year's celebration. 18 20 35

For six years, Da Xue secretly knew that the original Xue Qinghe had disappeared and been replaced by Xiao Xue, a Spirit Hall maid. She kept silent because she feared Xiao Xue could make her disappear as well. Su Yuntian uncovered this secret through his Charm skill, then promised to protect her; the release of her long-suppressed fear reduced her to tears. 35 36

Personality

Da Xue is informal, candid, and practical. She is unimpressed by lofty matters such as Soul Master advancement or rare ganoderma, instead responding with simple concerns such as monthly subsidies, illness, food, and household needs. 12 29

She is affectionate but assertive toward Su Yuntian. She treats him as a companion rather than merely an attendant, looks after his meals and cultivation, and is comfortable pulling his ear or taking his money when he causes trouble. 15 17 18 29

Her loyalty to Xue Qinghe is unwavering on the surface: she considers His Highness more important than even Ning Fengzhi. Beneath that loyalty, however, she has endured fear and isolation because of what she knows about the prince's replacement. 24 35 36
