System & Operation

The Spirit Ascension Platform is a spiritual-energy-based virtual environment. It uses conversion devices and stored data to manifest virtual soul beasts; after a beast is killed, part of its energy is awarded while the rest is recycled into the system. The Spirit Pagoda continuously injects energy to sustain this cycle. 37

• Killing a virtual soul beast grants Soul Power feedback equivalent to one-tenth of its age:
  • A 100-year beast grants ten years of feedback.
  • A 1,000-year beast grants 100 years of feedback. 33
• The feedback is used to raise a Soul Spirit's age and cultivation; sufficiently high spiritual power theoretically allows continued advancement without a fixed upper limit. 29
• Virtual soul beasts are primarily composed of spiritual energy, but that energy contains unusual components, including the power of time. The platform appears to forcibly increase a Soul Spirit's age before merging it with the energy needed for its growth. 34

Virtual Bodies

Users do not physically enter during normal operation. Their consciousness connects to a replicated body whose data mirrors their real body.

Access & Privacy

Access ordinarily requires extensive registration through the Spirit Pagoda.

• Users must register identity information, martial soul, Soul Power, spiritual power, brain waves, and Soul Tool equipment. 31
• The platform scans and copies a user's data, including items kept in storage Soul Tools, leaving ordinary users with virtually no privacy. 33

Notable Incidents

Eastsea City Anomaly

During Lin Chen's early use of the Eastsea City platform, Di Tian exploited its rules as a living Soul Spirit. He killed virtual soul beasts and accumulated cultivation years, something the platform should not have permitted. 36

A later anomaly involved a Wind Baboon with power comparable to a hundred-thousand-year soul beast. It killed every user and virtual soul beast inside the platform, absorbed one-tenth of its total spiritual energy, and corrupted the stored data. 41

• The destroyed virtual soul beasts could no longer re-condense normally after energy injection. 41
• Han Tianyi identified the phenomenon as potentially involving a will independently born within the platform. 41
• The platform could theoretically be restored by activating backup data, but the Spirit Pagoda delayed a reset in order to investigate the abnormal virtual beast. 41

Collapse of the Junior Platform

During a subsequent Eastsea City riot period, Di Tian attempted to break through from the Junior platform toward the Intermediate platform while harvesting every virtual soul beast present. 77 78

The semi-virtual space failed under the strain and shattered into spatial fragments. 78

• Han Tianyi entered using administrator permissions to stop Di Tian and was instantly killed within the platform. 78

Heaven Dou Spirit Pagoda Harvest

Di Tian and Lin Chen physically entered a low-grade Spirit Ascension Platform in New Heaven Dou City after infiltrating its Spirit Pagoda. Their entry caused the platform to stop operating. 44

They located its energy conversion device and stored spiritual energy, but Di Tian could not use that energy outside the platform's active rules. 44

Heavenly Spirit Pagoda Intermediate Platform

Lin Chen later entered the Heavenly Spirit Pagoda's Intermediate Spirit Ascension Platform through one of his clones. The environment simulated the Star Dou Great Forest's mixed region and contained dense spiritual energy, ten-thousand-year soul beasts, and hostile Soul Master entrants. 156

Because the platform replicated his clone's capabilities, its consciousness body retained an effectively inexhaustible supply of spiritual power that could be converted into Soul Power. This allowed Lin Chen to repeatedly use powerful soul skills and rapidly hunt ten-thousand-year virtual soul beasts. 157 158
