Background / History
Ultraman’s first arrival on Earth was accidental. While pursuing a monster that escaped to Ryumon Lake, he collided with Science Patrol member Shin Hayata’s aircraft, killing its pilot. To atone and restore Hayata’s life, Ultraman merged with him. Together, they protected Earth against dangerous monsters and hostile aliens 304.
Through his contact with humanity, Ultraman came to appreciate humans and developed a lasting attachment to Earth. His mission ended after the space dinosaur Zetton defeated him and left him near death. Zoffy rescued him, and Ultraman returned to the Land of Light 304.
His appreciation of Earth influenced other Ultra Warriors after his return, helping establish the tradition of successive warriors visiting the planet for training and protection 304.
Appearance
- “Acid-wash face” — the narration identifies this as his recognizable facial feature when Saiya meets the Land of Light’s leadership 304.
- Spacium-charged fists — during the Reiblood campaign, his fists burn with Spacium energy as he takes position beside Ace 307.
Personality
Ultraman treats power as a responsibility rather than a means of domination. His decision to revive Hayata demonstrates his willingness to take responsibility for his own mistakes, while his continued defense of Earth grows from genuine appreciation of humanity 304.
Despite his experience, he remains capable of humility. After Saiya dismantles Reiblood’s planetary form, Ultraman acknowledges that the Ultra Warriors’ understanding of light is still limited 311.
