Doflamingo is a tall man recognized by his conspicuous pink feather coat, short blond hair, and red-lensed sunglasses. He commonly travels through the sky by anchoring near-transparent strings to clouds. 3

Personality
Doflamingo is proud of his notoriety as the Heavenly Yaksha and reacts angrily to being mocked or treated as insignificant. Even when Zhu Mang catches him off guard, he refuses to surrender and immediately attempts to escape through his Devil Fruit abilities. 4
He is callous and threatening toward subordinates and civilians, casually suggesting that a restaurant manager be made into an ingredient when the kitchen runs out of food. 6 He also openly mocks Gecko Moria for being defeated by rookie pirates. 9
Around Zhu Mang, however, Doflamingo adopts a markedly deferential attitude, addressing him as “Lord Gebinz,” assisting with his requests, and ultimately resolving to follow him as his new boss. 18 50

Encounter with Zhu Mang
While traveling through the sky using his strings, Doflamingo encounters Zhu Mang. Zhu Mang recognizes him as the Heavenly Yaksha and Dressrosa’s villainous ruler from his prior knowledge. 3
Doflamingo attacks with Five-Color Strings after being provoked, but Zhu Mang instantly outpaces him, seizes him by the neck, and leaves him confronting a threat of death he has not felt since awakening his Devil Fruit. Doflamingo attempts to use Black Knight to escape. 4
Sabaody and Marineford
Doflamingo pays for Zhu Mang’s enormous meal at Sabaody, spending more than ten million Beli while displaying unusual patience toward him. In contrast, he threatens the restaurant manager when ingredients run out. 6
He later arrives at Marineford as a Shichibukai reinforcement. Marines are alarmed to see the infamous Heavenly Yaksha behaving more like Zhu Mang’s subordinate, including using his strings to slice Zhu Mang’s watermelon. 8
At Marineford, Doflamingo trades insults with Gecko Moria and attributes Moria’s provocation as the cause of Zhu Mang’s attack. 9
