Background

Two centuries before the present story, the Li Family migrated to Green Maple Valley and established itself in Baihe County. The family tree states that its First Generation Patriarch, Li Qingxian, led 132 clansmen to the valley, destroyed the resident Feng Family, and claimed the territory. Li Qingxian later died from a relapse of an old injury, while his origins and the instructions he passed solely to succeeding patriarchs remained concealed. 1 336

The clan initially rose as the Green Maple Li Clan, one of Baihe County’s Nine Great Families. Its position collapsed into crisis after Patriarch Li Xuanfeng was found dead in seclusion; external families immediately demanded the Silver Ridge Mine and attempted to exploit the succession. His seventeen-year-old grandson, Li Xinge, inherited the patriarchate and revealed his Qi and Blood Realm cultivation to stabilize the clan. 1 2

Under Li Xinge, the family destroyed the remnants of the Mangshan Su Clan, rewarded allies who fought alongside it, and began absorbing territory and resources from defeated rivals. The Li Family expanded beyond Baihe County through military campaigns, vassalage, marriage alliances, and the relocation of collateral branches. Leadership and Organization

The patriarch holds decisive authority over the clan’s strategy, military deployments, resource allocation, and major appointments. Li Xinge’s succession was supported by First Elder Li Xuantong, whose counsel and loyalty helped stabilize the family during its earliest crisis. 1 29

Li Xinge retains ultimate authority even when in seclusion. The Elder Council administers the family in his absence, but Li Xuantong explicitly maintained that no returned ancestor or senior figure could challenge the living patriarch’s authority. 166 885

The Li Family prioritizes collective survival, advancement, and repayment of service. The phrase “everything for the family” reflects an expectation that individual wishes yield to clan interests, particularly in matters of marriage, cultivation resources, and political alliances. 29

Its members are expected to observe strict order in important family spaces, contribute through missions, and compete for resources through merit. The Ancestral Land’s stronger disciples hold clear authority over branch members, though outstanding branches can receive cultivation methods, martial skills, pills, and increased resource allocations. 341 413 422

The clan is fiercely protective of its members, including collateral branches and recruited outsiders, but it is equally ruthless toward enemies. Its campaigns against the Tong, Fu, Lin, and other families established a reputation for systematic extermination and overwhelming retaliation. 136 303 330 427

Legacy and Bloodline Mysteries

The Li Family’s documented genealogy begins only with Li Qingxian’s arrival in Green Maple Valley. It omits his parents and any earlier family history despite evidence that the clan was already substantial before its migration. The First Generation Patriarch’s private instructions have been passed exclusively from patriarch to patriarch. 336

Li Xinge’s parents, Li Yanzong and Cao Yueying, died more than thirty years before Cao Wenzhao sought the family in Baihe County. Their identities were rarely discussed because Li Yanzong was Li Xuanfeng’s only son and Li Xinge’s birth father. 627 629

Li Xinge later sensed a possible bloodline connection to Xiong Lie, a surviving member of the Xiong Clan. Testing confirmed that Xiong Lie’s son possesses Li Family blood, prompting further investigation into the connection. 842 843

Li Hao’s encounter with an ancient remnant soul substantially altered the family’s understanding of its past. The soul identified itself as Li Qingcang, the Seventeenth Grand Elder of an ancient Li Family whose ancestral land was located in Ji Province. According to Li Qingcang, the clan suffered a catastrophe involving the Rootless People more than seven thousand years earlier. 864 865 885

Li Xuantong concluded that the First Generation Patriarch and the migrants to Green Maple Valley likely erased the family’s earlier records deliberately to protect their surviving descendants. Although he conditionally accepted Li Qingcang’s claim, he remained wary of deception and insisted that Li Xinge alone would make the final decision regarding the ancient ancestor’s status. 885
