Background

Personality

Li Xuantong is composed and politically cautious. When confronted with Prefect An Chengyu’s proposal to challenge the entrenched Zhang and Liu families, he maintained an outwardly calm demeanor, considered the danger carefully, and deferred the decision to Li Xinge rather than overcommitting the clan. 114

He is also protective of the Li Family’s younger generation. Xuantong is pragmatic in matters of clan interest. Upon hearing of Li Hao’s relationship with the Qi Kingdom’s imperial princess, he noted that a marriage alliance could bring the Qi Kingdom’s political support to the Li Family, though Li Xinge rejected the proposal out of pride in Li Hao’s bloodline and future. 909

During the meeting, Xuanxian explains that the surviving Li ancestors split into two branches after the ancestral land’s destruction seven thousand years earlier.
