Background / History

Ning Rongrong grew up as the indulged “little princess” of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, accustomed to others treating her according to her rank and family status. At Shrek Academy, Dai Mubai’s outburst injured her, and her attempt to use money and sect influence to have him killed was refused by Tang San. Oscar’s criticism and rejection left her isolated and questioning whether anyone valued her apart from her identity. 67 68

After Ye Lan comforts her with candied hawthorn skewers, Rongrong realizes that her identity is not something she must reject: “I am who I am! I’m Ning Rongrong!” The conversation restores her confidence while preserving her pride in being the sect’s young miss. 68
