History

Warring States Period

Hashirama initially served as Senju Takeuma’s deputy clan head. Although Tobirama believed Hashirama could have claimed the clan leadership himself, Hashirama preferred to support his clan from the side rather than lead it directly 17 19.

When Senju leadership and most elite Jonin advocated breaking the truce with the Uchiha, Hashirama opposed them alone. He treated the agreement as a binding promise and challenged any Senju who wished to go to war to defeat him first. His subsequent display of Wood Release overwhelmed the opposition and preserved the truce 26 27.

His power rapidly made him the Senju’s foremost fighter. After using Deep Forest Emergence to suppress dozens of Jonin, he surpassed Takeuma as the clan’s strongest shinobi in all but formal title 47. His repeated clashes with Izuna Uchiha elevated both men into the ranks of the Sengoku Twin Heroes, while Hashirama’s Wood Golem earned him the title God of Shinobi 134 166.

Hashirama repeatedly prioritized peace over immediate military advantage. Founding of Konohagakure

Following the Senju-@@REF_ENTITY_8579722@@ reconciliation, Hashirama led Senju representatives to a historic unarmed meeting at the Uchiha Clan Grounds. Beneath both clans’ banners, former enemies shook hands and marked the beginning of a new era 216.

Hashirama became Konohagakure’s First Hokage. He supported the village’s institutions, chose to place the Scroll of Seals in the Hokage Building Library rather than reserve it for a single clan, and oversaw the beginning of his Face Rock Sculpture and inauguration preparations 225 226.

Wars and Final Years

During the First Shinobi World War, Hashirama led Konoha’s defense and declared war against the attacking great villages. When multiple Tailed Beasts devastated Konoha, he returned to the ruined village, subdued the Four-Tails, and coordinated with the sealing team to contain the beasts 259 271.

After the war, he proposed distributing the Tailed Beasts among the Five Great Ninja Villages, believing that Konoha should not retain weapons future generations could not safely control 277.
